OMG the first pictures are of the Timmer Market. I LOVED that when I was little. I remember it moved away to where there is a car park now. I wish I could go back in time to then, people were happier.

Wow.. Those are some wonderful pics and video snippets of how Aberdeen used to be like and the changes made to various main streets. It always gets me as to why they changed the Castlegate to what it is now closing a direct road to the beach and also why they did away with the trams again would be good for direct beach access. They could of at least kept a road on Castlegate to keep the City centre and beach roads linked, I've had many tourists and people new to Abdn ask me directions to the beach as they can't work out the roads and layout from Union St to Beach Bouly.

Harry Milne. You left in 1960, I went to Canada in 1955, took my son back in 1979 when he was 12yrs, he loved it, spent lots of time at the joke factory in St. Andrews street where my Auntie lived over the bank!
I went back in 2003 with my husbands ashes, we scattered them at the
Brig. Of Don. One of his favourite places. I wish I could see Aberdeen again and I do thru my I Pad. But it’s not the same eh!! I wish you many more good memories. Cheerio from Toronto.🌈

"Feet leek?" "Knee beed, feet leek yeerseel?" I just love the way you Scotch people talk! My "Greet Greendmeether" emigrated to the US from "Eebeerdeen" eefteeer the Greet Weer in 1919. She's the one who taught me to speak the lingo!

The people made Aberdeen what it was.❤ The life & Soul was Union Street, now it's empty, a shadow of it's former self.😢
Union Street is meant to be the main thoroughfare of Aberdeen. Since ACC closed it for a cold, they will never open it again for all traffic > as it should be!
Nothing wrong with the air quality to warrant these measures, except to kill the City & penalty £fine any driver that goes anywhere the Council decide you shouldn't.
Now we can't afford to heat our homes, that's bringing back something from 'the past'.
