That was fascinating. As you suggested, I had assumed like many people that the rise of the Ottomans was quite mechanical with each Sultan talking a bit more of the Byzantine Empire until just Constantinople was left, and that was finally taken. As ever it is more nuanced and therefore even more interesting! The approach to succession seems very messy, but then primogenitor doesn’t work out so great all the time either 😝.
I watched a video about Timur and his empire the other day and the battle of Ankara was covered in which sultan bajazet was captured.
its a famous battle, there are a lot of CZcams videos about it
Are you part Turkish, kardeş?
no I am not
@@Corvinuswargaming1444 alright, your pronunciation of Turkish terms sounded very good. That's why I asked.
@@mamaymirza I did live in Turkey for a couple years
@@Corvinuswargaming1444 which province if you don't mind me asking?
@@mamaymirza I lived in Istanbul to study history. I wish I had been able to travel around more, but I did visit Ankara and Adana. Hope I can go back some day to see Amasya, Gelibolu, and eastern Anatolia
And then ottomans lost like billion wars to Russia and collapsed 😅
what does that have to do with the topic of the video
Not a billion, 90% of them being against coalitions including Russia and other nations, and pretty much all of them being pyrrhic "victories" for Russia.
Not to mention what we Crimean Turks, along with Anatolian Turks did to Moscow in 1571.
@@mamaymirza Crimean Turks were totally conquered by Russia lol 😂
@@CA-jz9bm yeah, unfortunately. But is the history over? Maybe we'll become their masters again.
You only glorify and portray war conquerors portray those who suffered from the occupiers and who were exterminated by evil nations and evil religions.
are you indicating that islam and christianity are evil religions?
All have done this to each other, one day one is a victim, next day one is a conquerer.
Nobody is one or the other forever
