This is used to bust up the concrete liner from a waterline. They'll next run a stack of squeegee disk attached to a cable and pull it through a couple of times to clean it out. After a camera inspection is done to find any parts that need to be repaired the final step is to reline the pipe, reattach the valves and fill the pipe back up. After the test come back clean, open the valves and put everything back into service.

Add extra okra in the shrimp Creole . . . I live in southern Missouri. Retirement after 20 years OTR. Damned Yankees here don't know crap about seafood. And I have to drive 70 miles just to buy a can of Trappey's Okra.
But when I do drive to Springfield at least I can buy (mostly frozen) seafood. Oh, and they cook steaks here you can use to re-sole your steel toes.
Yep, they like 'em cooked to a golden black!
But if you do find a can of okra, save the slimy juice from the can and put only the juice in a clogged toilet. Give it about two hours to do its magic. Usually you don't even have to flush. But do flush anyway 😅

Often a rope is pulled through using Drain Rods, which is then tied to the D Shackle and then the Cable is pulled through. This looks like a very hard Turburulation as when we relined our Cast Iron Water mains we used wire brush scrapers in sequence and then the rubber Scrapers to clean and dry

      haha. too costly. That’s
why it builds up a little bit and then they pig it every few years. The monitor the flows of water or oil or sewage and then the flow decreases past a certain point, they re-pig it with that thing in the video. They have financial people and accountants behind all this that calculates the cost and if it is worth the cost to do it more often. They have to find a balance. Because everything is money. Including pipelines. So they do what they call a, “major turn around job” every several years and do what you see here in the video. Too costly otherwise.

The process is called pigging and the device at the end is called a pig. In this case where clearing the pipe is concerned the pig is made of HDPE(basically a very hard durable plastic, look it up).
In my line of work (oil & gas) we use this type of pig to clear lines of debris just after construction and particularly in the natural gas industry, we use it bai-weekly to move condensate(think “liquids from gas”). The mode in this case is using a pressure deferential in gas (about 1psi less infront the pig than the back) to move the pig.
There is also something called intelligent pigging, google it and be amazed.😊
