I also wasn't a big fan of the soundtrack for sor3 but I feel that sorr's added visual and audio effects, coupled with the faster pace and deeper combos make the music "fit" better with the rest of the series.
SoR3 Soundtrack is very distinct from the previous but when you get to understand its nature it makes sense, and it fits pretty well with the pacing of the game

Which is the best SoR boss music: Attack of the Barbarian (SoR1) or Never Return Alive (SoR2, and 3 I think)? While I think both are excellent, if I had to go with one, it'd be the former.

SOR3 is largely forgettable, I mean almost everything on SOR2 and some of 1 had just incredible music with lots of tunes that have been resolutely stuck in my head for 20 years

Nope... SoR 2 far better... better range with the memory. 1 was good but these are far better... my preference anyways.
Fewer people techno, core, experimental which is why the general audience was like 'meh, this ost sucks'. However, give them something like ATLANTIS - AZEALIA BANKS and...wow, does it give off some weird and familiar vibes? 1994...2012. Indeed, Koshiro was way ahead of its time with his progressive melodies.

Yeh agree, probably the most recognisable track from rage3 lacks that instant urgency the original game kinda throws you into. Few instrument jiggles coulda fixed that.
Remix of "fuze" is REALLY BAD ...... others are good!
