there's plenty of covers of Vai, Satch etc on CZcams.. ever wondered why no one posts covers of Gambale? Because very few people in the world can play like that! Total control of technique, melody and harmony.
And he's really mastered economy picking, which is a different animal than alternate picking! It's not necessarily harder or better, just different.

I’m sure thier are guitarist who should be able to cover this one. Most likely. But you are correct I’ve searched through guitarist copy frank gambale’s licks. I have searched for franks descending sweep pattern I’ve seen twice, frank plays it live extending the descending sweep pattern fire ball fizzing out colors, appear ‘scal uler’ leathery hide patterns.
Frank is so fun to watch play. He just plays with such ease, right in the pocket yet his lines are so intricate but he's jamming right on time with the rhythm section the whole time. It's hard to find a player who can rack your brain yet have you jiving & tapping your foot at the same time.
He's incredible. Groovy yet very technical.
Man, it is amazing how clean Frank plays. Especially with all the sweeping and finger rolls with distortion on top.
Been following Frank from the Chick Corea years and he never disappoints. An amazing technician and unique in my view. What a player. And he makes it look so effort less. This is just the tip of what he can do.....Shredding for fun.
I love how he blends his sweep picking seamlessly with his alternate picking. Amazing musicality.
He actually utilizes sweep picking, alternate picking, and economy picking. And you are right that this guy is phenomenal with such great musicality!

I recently saw him with Return to Forever. He is simply an incredible guitar player. A friend of mine was fortunate enough to get to spend an afternoon with him and has nothing but good things to say. He is a humble, down-to-earth man who just happens to have insane guitar chops. He's worked hard, has loads of talent, and the new Carvin signature model is not only beautiful, but it sounds just wonderful. He plays them in concert, and they certainly suit his playing style very well.

Simply phenomenal phrasing power, no strange whamming, slapping, punching, drumming, and scrapping guitars. Good old fashion days.
Great tune! Approachable, yet advanced. Groovy, gritty and loaded with style. And of course, outrageously masterful playing as well. Frank has such efficiency of finger movement! Like he's barely touching those frets. Awesome!

Frank I bought a bunch of CDs from you when you were performing at Lavalie in L.A.. Are used to put it on my music player before I got on my bike. One day came on my playlist well I was in the midst of a major decent. That music pushed me to limit that I've never gone to before. You are a true inspiration. Plus that song is very special to me as we both went through that shaker together

Where in the world have I been? This is the first I've heard of Frank Gambale but I certainly like what I hear. Fantastic guitarist. Definitely knows what he's doing.

I had the privilege to meet him when he did a tour with classical guitar player Maurizio Colonna. Frank gambale was out of this world... Colonna on par with him.

Saw Frank in the 80's @ the Namm show in Anaheim, he and a bass player were "holding court" in the Ibanez booth, and taking on all comers including some high profile players. He blew them all away, plus Frank also had hair then!!!

i dont play the guitar....so its not his technical ability...i have no idea. what blows me away is how compelling his musical expression is!!! i have a lot of frank gamble's records...terrific!
He´s kinda basic to me but the way he plays just makes it really incredible. He totally put me in the whole world of Jazz with Alain Caron and Allan Holdsworth.

Yeah. Man that is the kicker; he's so known for his sweep technique, and his economy picking is smooth as hell, but he can also alt pick like a boss when it calls for it.
