- It's time for a new project! I bought a crashed Audi S1 from a subscriber of my CZcams channel. Categorised as a CAT N write-off, I plan to rebuild this car to get it back on the road...How hard can it be?

I’ve got a s1 and I love how not everyone knows about them very underrated car. Love the video though.

Theyre such a cool ride. I myself have a pang blue s1. The quattro drive is such a sensation in these.
Looking forward to seeing this project Luke - The bumper, from being in similar experiences in the past just find another bumper from a breaker or brand new to save the headache itll cost more to fix it most likely

They sold it over a cracked splitter and the bumper coming off.. most modern Audi are just easy detach crap.. amazing for power but I can imagine what caused that little damage.. then again I bought a scrap Mk1 TT and the previous put a new pump and timing belt on after a dent someone must have done with a trolley in a supermarket.. that bumpers easily repairable and a new splitter and about 20 mins pulling that tiny dent in the bonnet out.. amazes me thinking what people deem as a damage category..
I remember when you had your A1 and you did a few mods etc, was very envious when you had that a1 and it was super clean looking forward to the new series

Well done on the S1. Can’t wait for the repair and future mods. I’ve just bought an S1 to daily to save using my E46 M3 CS. The S1 is a great little car to race around in, but now needs a power increase, so am interested in what you do.

Depends how far you’d want to go with it; Will need a clutch no matter what you decide to do they’re chocolate from standard
Stage 1 will see about 320 with no hardware
Stage 2; Downpipe, intake, intercooler will see about 340-350bhp
Stage 3 with all hardware plus a hybrid or an is38 from the golf r will take you too 400bhp+ if you uprate the HPFP you’ll obviously get more gains

Yes. You do. Claiming you are doing this "rebuild" though when you are changing a rad, putting a bumper and bonnet on is a bit of a stretch though. 😆

Problem is most of these youtube " builders" are simply people with money, who take their cars to the same shops ( motech etc) and are simply adverts at this point. They didnt build it. They paid others to do so and dont even know what a spanner is. Lol

@@NickthaGeek I don’t disagree… will be interesting to see where it progresses from here (if anywhere.) There are some good CZcams channels out there too, like Saving Salvage/ Salvage Builds U.K. that cater to those more interested in actual rebuilds. Suspect a lot of this channels subscribers are more interested in just seeing hot hatches/ modified common road cars rather than technical expertise.

How about do a video fitting the item to show others a guide on it. These are not differcult things to fit. Infact, most stuff is not. BrakesI understand. Fitting exhausts etc can be done on a driveway though. A novice could do it.
I think some of it is it was a different time when I was young. By the age of 19 I had taken rs turbo's and xr2's apart and worked out how to fix them. Was converting all sorts of fords with full rs turbo running gear. Im not a mechanic.not even close. We didnt have youtube to fall back on then. Now theres guides for most things now.
Even tool sets. A halfords advanced 250pc set is about £250. Has lifetime warranty and the majority of the stuff you need. I say get stuck in.
Thats worth a vid right there. Explaining whats in the sets. The best basic sets to get etc.
Simply going back to the m140i vids. Theres a million out there but all talk about the same thing. What they fitted. Then john at blah blah motorsport says the same tag line. Never comparison videos to PROOVE whats the best item. Never decent fitment guide vids. Just a load of glossy b roll.
Again, back in the day the old performance ford mags etc always did part shootouts.
Showing best intercoolers etc from all the main brands.
Where is this type of stuff.
Encouraging car enthusiasts to not be "sold" a brand name but actually provide them with the best information on the BEST valued products. Encourage the viewer to get out there and work on their own car. Thats what its about. Im not saying changing engines. But fitting spoilers and wheels or interior trim no problem

i have a polo bluegt nice little pocket rocket but always liked the look of an s1 manual.
Watch ratarosa do the bumper on his scuderia, it was in worse shape than that and he fixed it
Just have a go with the fibreglass and if you fuck it up then you fuck it up only then would I get a new one

Just searched autotrader and on average 60k mile S1 are between £13-£14k, just goes to show the parts are extortionate and insurers will write a car off for anything.😢
