I just found your channel, it’s so amazing that i got emocional. I see myself in some years just like you, surrounded of horses, dogs, all the animals and all the nature. You are Brilliant Emma!! I was a vet tech for years, working mainly with small animals, but I did need to give some medication to a horse that was about to become colic. :). Again, thank you for sharing, I wish everyone thought the way you do!

This is simply brilliantly, hilariously original. My Dad ran a riding school and boarding farm, rotating about 40 horses followed by a dozen cattle. The full cycle was about six weeks, and required (a) harrowing the pastures, and (b) worming the horses with drench. It was a successful way of intensive grazing, but I recall that the worming was not pleasant, I think a twitch was used a lot. Amazing to see the horses storming you for their worming medication! Your videos are simply wonderful. All your animals have such distinctive personalities, Custard with his sweet calmness and size reminds me of other chestnut denizens of CZcams such as Peyo and Chase.

Great idea Emma! Love your empathy with horses. I have used golden syrup sandwiches to give a course of bute, but this would be much better.

Blenders are arguably more dangerous than my ponies! .....😂 I had been riding all morning and so had crazy hat hair!
I must admit I always wear my helmet if I go near horses that aren't in their stall. I just think it basic safety. If I was with miniature ponies I wouldn't. Their little legs would have to do some amazing work to reach! But I did know a friend that got kicked in the head (no helmet) whilst tending to her horse and passed away. You never know!

This is so cool! We sometimes gave our ponies apple cider in the summer, which they got in a solo cup and they grabbed the cup with their teeth and tilted their head and the cup back and drank it up from the cup. It was hilarious and they loved it. We miss them now (retired) but this is such a great tip and I truly enjoy watching your videos--the love we put into our horses reaps wonderful fruit of its own! Best wishes!

That was great fun to watch ,squirting in their mouths brilliant ,like u say make taking meds easier ,I used worming sachets in their food which isn't traced by them as syringe paste stressed them out when their former owner did them ,so anything that makes it less stressful in my book makes sense for everyone 🙂

Where did you get the syringes from?
It really works a treat! 😎 I just ordered feeding syringes online or you can get from your vet or use an old worming syringe (well washed out) Emx

I didn’t know molasses was safe for horses. That’s really neat!
What she used was a product specifically for horses. Dunno if regular cooking molasses would be as safe.
You can use molasses from the grocery store. We add 1-2 tablespoons to hot mash on super wet cold days which we have plenty in New England! We use 100% pure unsulfured.

This is such an "ignorant American" question to ask, but do y'all have watermelon in the summer? I ask because horses in the States love watermelon! It makes a wonderful smoothie and another fun ingredient to add to their enrichment😊😊😊
We can get it, fairly easily but it's rarely grown here. And would be more expensive
Yea, all supermarkets have them, but they are one of the pricier fruits. If you go to a local farm place/ farmers market you can get watermelons for as little as £2

So fun as usual! I had an idea Emma! You need someone to make you a carpenter style belt but made from rubber (So you can rinse it off) with 6 or so holder slots on it so you can just hang onto two at a time. Anyway great fun. Haha, that "grin" trick made the Connemaras much easier to deal with. Tricks reap all kinds of rewards!
I do something similar with my dog and cat where if they have to take any medication that can be in liquid form, I mix it with some pet safe bone broth into an ice cube tray and freeze it to some jelly cubes they can enjoy. Really good for hotter days. Alternatively I can just put it in their wet food with some warm water, but that's less fun.

Horses love watermelon. Rind /Fruit makes now difference...we used to freeze chunks and feed them on a hot KS summer day.
