This is an acoustic guitar version of how I play Lay Down Sally by Eric Clapton. This is a one guitar combination of the two guitars used on the actual track and great for solo acoustic playing. - Hudba
Thanks for taking the time Vince. Not all of us can decipher an awesome song from an album and play it without a little help. Keep 'em coming!
How to lay down Clapton's Sally. I have been waiting for this lesson for more than 40 years. Thanks Vince, I love it!
Many thanks for this superb rendition. Funny thing, I play a lot of Clapton's tunes, solos are very intuitive, but this A to E string riff is admittedly taking me a bit longer to get down fluidly. Always fun having something knew to work on!
Excellent video, i learned it in the time it took you to make this video. Very helpful and well organized, good camera angles. Everything was great, please keep making vids!
This is great, sounds spot on with a strat and a champ!
Awesome and kicking vocals to boot!
Thanks for this lesson. I play advanced fingerpicking tunes, and plenty of classical guitar, but have always struggled with basic blues! I found this lesson very easy to follow, and immediately started to play a recognisable tune. I suppose you could say it's so simple, but in many ways devilishly difficult if you're not shown exactly what you should be doing. I recall trying to learn this when I was a beginner, and wish I'd had your tutelage then.
same with me
What a brilliant lesson! I've just added a brilliant new song cheers Vince!!!
Vince, thank! Great way to play a great song. You have provided me some great material to learn intermediate level acoustic songs that are hard to find. Well done!
I agree. This lesson helped me a lot.
I thought this lesson was awesome. I was watching Crossroads 2010, Eric Clapton. Vince Gill, Joe Walsh and others and could not figure exactly what they were playing. I had the right chords, and most of the alternating base line, but it just wasn't synching up. Watched your video and it was exactly correct. Watched others, and parts were missing. I love to see a "professional". Thank you so much. Learned this in about 10 minutes. Ted Rowland
Really great. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Love your other videos as well.
This song has always in been a bit of a mystery for me, so so glad this lesson is not fingerpicking . A bit of determination and your instruction I will get this. Much Thanks
Thanks man, picked this up in 10 min. Really enjoy your originals too.
especially without you
Learning it! Magnificent play!
Brilliant arrangement and tutorial
Love it ! Great teacher.... easy to learn from !
jumpin' arrangement and nice vocal performance too!!
Thanks for this video. Very helpful. A variation on the fingering that works well with the 'upstroke A thing' is to barre the A using the middle finger (instead of the index).
Good work! Marvellous! Thanks for the lesson!
not much of a song without those adds , good lesson !
Wonderful! Thank you for posting this. I'm going to give it an attempt!
Sweet n simple great job!

I have a request. You should do a tutorial for ‘Fine Memory’ by Bob Seger
great lesson you sound good also.do you do any other clapton songs?
Cool, thanks👍🎤🎸🙋♂️
Thank you 🙏🏻. This is fantastic. It’s a lot easier than it sounds! This was my favorite song when I was a little kid. I listened to my slow hand cassette tape until it broke lol. Oh, is this standard E tuning or is it dropped down at all?
Thanks so much,i couldn't grasp it,bit more practice and i'll be there, many thanks.
thank`s ! very nice..
Thanks!
finalmente un po di vita graziee ciaooo
THANKS! How is this voice alteration called at 5:25 that is so typical for country music and sounds like a guy in puberty unvoluntarily changing pitches when talking? Would like to know to look for videos how to practice that.
cool lesson you sound good also i need to work on the e string thing little trouble getting it down correct. do you have a tab for it?
Thanks for a terrific lesson, easy to follow, it'll make me sound better than I am. Wryly Coyote
great! thanks
Cool.
could you make a lesson on
summertime - george gershwin
nice!!
Hi Vince, thanks for presenting this awesome arrangement. Since on stage Clapton plays LDS with two guitars, do you think Eric Clapton ever played it this way merged on the one guitar arrangement.
Awesome! ***** 5 stars haha
Pas de problème
Oui ! Ç'est tres bon ! Merci pour le video.
can u send me the tabs so i can figure it out please
nice bro
wow thats really not bad!)
heh - that's very nice lesson:)
Sounds flawless. Whats the width of your pick btw.
nice
Thank you but I would ask that you Consider in the future that the angle of your camera is a little more direct in relation to the face of your guitar I think a straight on angle might be helpful for a lot of people like me just to be able to completely see your finger movements just a Little food for thought I know that it tends to help me when I can see all the movements and placement of the fingers and your angle kind of blocks that but again thank you for the lesson it sounds good and I am working on it as we speak keep it up people like me need people like you and your much appreciated
Music isn't about your eyes, use your ears. You'll be better off in the long run.
do you have a tab on this?
great thanks, but can't see very well because of the angle.
QUE PITIA BOLOO!
I need a beet look from the front not an angle
Vince Just wondering, what thickness pick do you use?
I will have to be reborn 100 time to reach there sir , 😇😇😇
That's cool.you're a dude. Thanks
Nice...my wife will soon be sick of hearing it
Nice, gave me some ideas. I would add bass line E-F#-G# on the 6th string between the verse and the chorus. I think you can hear it on the recording.
EC played that intro lick many different ways over the years but the record is the coolest way...and I'd bet my last dollar he's using his thumb on that 6th string movement...lots of palm muting as you said ...then there's the rocking pattern on the 3rd and 4th strings....with the open G 3rd string playing against the fretted F# on the 4th then sliding that F# up to the G at the end of the lick. Again...this is the single release version I'm talking about. On this version there are two guitars but you can use one and mix the left and right parts together. czcams.com/video/9hQqP6RNnDE/video.html
Could you speed it up a little lol
