I can appreciate the lyrics, but giving away our hymnology for pop-rock inspired praise&worship is the definition of denomination(s) wide self-sabotage...

Its's likely that similar things were said about hymns as they became more widely used than chants. But I would contend that if the truth of the words are timeless, the form of the artistic expression can surely change and still be beautiful in the eyes of our Savior who is himself a Creator.
