  • From HS2:
Birmingham Curzon Street Station, which will be net zero carbon in operation, will be the first brand new intercity terminus station built in Britain since the 19th Century
Sitting at the heart of the high-speed rail network, it will give people more choice about where they live, work and play.
The station itself will be net zero carbon in operation and adopt the latest eco-friendly design and sustainable technologies, including capturing rainwater and utilising sustainable power generation, with over 2,800m2 of solar panels located on platform canopies.

This nice old building is the old Curzon Street railway station building, built in 1838 and closed in 1966. Which is precisely why it still stands.

Thank you so much for this video, I live and work nearby to the site and it's so hard to get a decent vantage point so it's great to see the full extent like this! :)

We had a great lunch at the Old Dresser Cafe if you've not tried it. Most of the videos are filmed followed by food :)

That nice old building is the former Curzon Street railway station entrance and offices etc. HS2 propose to refurbish it and incorporate it in some way into the new terminus station for the railway. The big bare patch around the old building is where the new station will go. What they are doing at present is building the viaducts incoming to the station - the line branches into several near the canal to allow trains into the various platforms.

yes and across the street the 125 year old The Woodman pub....which remains partially open to pedestrians.
Hopefully will survive the new HS2 workings.
Excellent progress on the new HS2 terminus; maybe the Euston station gets more than 7 platforms ?
Great UAV views here of the amazing HS2 architecture and structures.

Looks like there making the bridge on site then move it into place .. that will take some moving

Meanwhile, the large metal structure perpendicular to the route of the line between Lawley Middleway (the dual carriageway) and the canal will be the bridge over the Middleway - when complete, they'll close the roads and use specialist transporters to drive it off site, down the road and lift it onto the piers either side.

it is easy to see how the viaduct divides up into the seven platforms before entering the station site. Thx.

Great progress on the approach viaducts, but of the “most eco friendly station” - hardly a sign😳

How long do you think it takes to build such a station? One could suggest that the viaducts being built are actually part of the station as they form the throat of the station.

Whats this got to do with HS2, your so called wandering Northerners already come into London on 4 routes , the Chiltern line from Birmingham to London Marylebone, the WCML from Birmingham and the North into London Euston, the Midland Mainline from Derbyshire into London St Pancras International and From Yorkshire on the ECML into London Kings Cross, so what is so different about HS2.

@@davecooper3238 You did not read my comment correctly, I answered to Ishaq-qj3bv rambling on about the "Bakerloo line extension to Lewisham and Hayes is opening in 2030 Transport for London and the Mayor of London what Do you think about it Wandering Northerners" so my answer was " Whats it got to do with HS2 and Wandering Northerners" and listed the relevant routes that Northerners already use to get to London before HS2 is opened. So no I did not ask what is the difference with HS2 I said that wandering Northerners as he calls them already come into London with out HS2 and as in my previouse answer to you I know HS2 will not carry freight trains it is purly a high speed passenger service from London Euston to Birmingham Curzon Street and to Handsacre in Staffordshire where HS2 services will join the existing WCML route taking these trains to Liverpool, Manchester and Scotland run by Avanti West Coast trains/Trenitalia
