      I purchased a Canyon for my first dropbar bike. I absolutely chose the right bike. I’m 70 and have three century rides plus over 4000 miles in 2023 so far.
      I find it infinitely more comfortable and compliant than anything is ridden in the past.
      I purchased the Endurace 6 to start, however, I’m already saving up for the Endurace CF 9. I find my Canyon great for climbing as well.
      I know would never have been able to accomplish my milage goals on a standard road bike at my age.
      Go, go Canyon Endurace.
      Who needs a gravel bike.
      This bike does it all.

    It’s refreshing to hear a GCN presenter admit that there’s more to cycling than speed, maximising aero and going as fast as possible. For many cyclists sacrificing a bit of speed is well worth a more comfortable position. Nice one Conor!

    I'm also 6ft 8". I also have an Endurace (though just a 2017 105 equipped CF) and it's perfect. Fast, comfortable and at 2XL, ideal for the taller gentleman 😁

      I’m a puney 6’5” but I’m just loving seeing a frame in a size that I might actually buy lol.
      Also loving the length of that head tube - manufacturers who try and use the same fork for all frame sizes to save money can get fucked

    I have an 2022 Endurace CF and it is perfect for long ride and still fast!. For those who have never tried, this is a must. Thank you for a very honest review GCN.

    I used to have back problems. I did leg raises and hyperextension exercises and gone they went. The equipment for these two exercises is found at most gyms. These exercises allow you to exercise and strengthen your core muscles(which support your back) WHILE the spine is in a decompressed state.
    Aside from the dorky disc brakes, this bike seems like a dream come true.

    Truly, you made a great choice for endurance. Being 196cm, 58 years old. Not interested for a race geometry. I ride with comfort in mind. I have an XL Gravel bike with 43mm tires and for more road riding, I have and endurance bike 61cm with 35mm tires. Nice riding and much less straining.

    I do not quite understand the hype now. I ride the Canyon Endurace CF SL8 with the 12 Speed Ultegra DI2. I bought it in October 2022 with the 35mm deep wheels (so called aero). If you compare it with the new model the "old" one is actually around 300 gr. lighter. The cockpit is also already integrated and adjustable but you see two cables. Seatpost is the same as are all other parts. The box in the top tube is missing in mine. But seriously you have to have a saddle bag anyway for a sparer tube. Therefore, you can put your minitool etc. in that anyhow. Just a couple of months ago I fitted my spare wheels with Schwalbe 35mm Gravel tyres it was absolutely fine.

      The top tube storage looks like your tv remote battery box anyway. The old one looks just fine.

    I recently bought the Endurace CF7 Disc for about $2k. I find it to be excellent. I swapped the tires to 28mm Continental GP5000 Clincher and TPU tubes and the bike instantly gained 1mph of average speed, lost some weight, and I don't notice any drop in comfort. I also swapped the saddle for my preferred Gilles Berthoud Galibier leather saddle which is about 5-6oz heavier than your typical carbon saddle... but once broken in is extremely comfortable (well, comfortable in the sense that you just don't notice it.) I will likely upgrade the wheels at some point to a carbon lightweight/climbing set. This should give me my goal of a reasonably lightweight, comfortable, fast endurance bike for moderate to long distance rides (40mi to 120mi) at a very reasonable starting price point that can be upgraded over time.

    With multiple back injuries I can no longer get into those ultimate aero positions on a set of drop bars either so it is nice to see bikes designed with more relaxed geometry.

      When I look at the height difference between saddle and handlebars on the Endurace, I can't imagine how much greater it is on the Aeroad. I am older and stiffer of course, but my bikes are much more relaxed still.

      My neck is a bit screwy from car accidents but I ride nearly the same position I ride 15yrs ago when I was 25. I bought a new Domane and run a slammed 140mm -12 degree stem expecting to keep this bike for a very long time(put over 200k miles into my last main bike). A 140 -6, +6, +12 then maybe a +17 before I'm running a 60mm +24 will hopefully take me to my deathbed🤣

    I love my 2023 Endurace CF7 upgraded with the split seat post. After a lower back injury/surgery in 2021 I took up commuter cycling because running was no longer an option. When my MTB wasn't fast enough, I got my first road bike, a 2001 Cannondale in July of 2022 . It was fun, but 23mm tires took their toll on the fun factor. I bought my Endurace in Jan of 2023 and love it. As for whether or not it is fast, I just finished 96th out of 780 riders at avg 32.5kph over 62km with 720m of elevation and wouldn't ride anything else!

      Have you tried the Endurace both with and without the split seat post? Looking to upgrade this part on my Endurace, but questioning whether it´s worth the money or not.

    I recently bought a Gen 4 Domane SL5, and on group rides, I now end up much fresher at the end than most of my group, doing longer pulls in front at the end of 100k+ rides. It is not as snappy as a Madone, but it helps a ton with how depleted I feel after a ride.

    I am soon 70 and ride an end 2021 Endurace CF SL with new Swiss Side's 625 carbon wheels (25 mm) and a Selle Italia endurance saddle and I love it.
    My approach to this problem is just the opposite.
    Since I am one of the fastest riders in my age group in my area on Strava and I am very interested to see if I could go faster on a faster bike, like an Aeroad. Yes, I would like to go all the way to the top (for myself).
    I had my lower back problems too but cured it - in a very unorthodox way - with a longer stem and a more streched out position and a good bike fit.
    I think I could handle a more racy position of Aeroad.
    The stem on this new Endurace seems short and is not swappable. I also do not want to go back to a position I left behind.
    If Aeroad fails to suit me, I can stay with my old Endurace and I will be happy.

      Wish I would have - the ones being advertised now are mostly coming with electronic shifting, and I (and most of us) just don't need that cost and complexity on an endurance bike. I was eyeing the sales going on, and will be getting a great paycheck next month - perhaps I will seek out a used 2022 model.

      @@workingguy6666 I had an sales email from them which I normally ignore, but it was to good a deal to pass up especially when I had another bike to sell to put towards it. Seen as you can pay over $2k for a Roubaix with Sora this seemed like the way to go.

    I too have a glass back & i`m 6`-4" tall! In the past couple of weeks i`ve bought a Merida Sculture Endurance. Give the state of the roads in the UK my comfort levels have gone through the roof riding on 32mm tyres at 59psi. I`m still dialing my set up but it definitely the my cycling future.

    I have been riding a BMC GF02 for the last 6 years and find it a perfect fit for my needs. I'm 6' 3" so not quite a tall as Conor but have a 58cm frame size. A full racing position would definitely trigger back trouble for me.

    I've gone the other way and just swapped my old Giant Defy for the Cervelo S5. To my surprise, the S5 is not only faster and more stable, but more comfortable on long rides. I've also had some back issues and find the more aggressive position on the S5 changes my weight distribution in a way that reduces back pain for me. I'm sure many people would find the opposite to be true. My point is you really need to work with a fitter and figure out what works for you rather than assuming more upright is necessarily going to be more comfortable.

    I swapped my old entry-level gravel bike for Endurace CF 7, which cost me $2100, including delivery and taxes. I absolutely love it. It feels so much faster and more responsive compared to my old bike. So far, I've ridden about 900km on it, went on a couple of 100km+ rides. It took me some time to adapt to the more aggressive geometry of the bike, as I had some lower back pain, which eventually went away. I would recommend this bike for everyone who looks for something in between standard road bike and gravel bike. The cost/quality ratio is excellent as well, I haven't found any other bike with better components for that price.

      I have an endurance too, came from a mtb so its like night and day. The speed along with less traction when braking is scary. What a buzz love the thing

    The advertisement for the Endurace aside, it's great to see an informative video about the importance of geometry and bike fit. It doesn't matter if you are spending £1000 on an alloy entry level bike or £10,000+ on a top of the range machine - make sure the geometry suits your body. Comfort is more important than aero for speed; especially if the watts lost through being unable to produce any power outweigh the watts gained in CDA reduction. I get people are cheesed off it's an advert but try separating the sponsorship from the information and apply it to any other bike on the market. If the information still makes sense, it's good information.

    Beautiful bikes & had my heart set on the new CF SL8 in a medium. But after watching the delivery date continually pushed out from June this year to April next year, sadly I’ve given up 😢

    I'm happy to own the new Endurace CF SLX Aero and I guess I'll swap my Bianchi Aria Aero bike for it. :-) I've changed the 30/32 mm tire setup to 28/28 and it's equally fast. Also, with an additional wheelset, (33 mm) I'me ready to go off-road. Great bike.

    Thinking of doing a similar move. I have disc herniation on my L4- L5 and I can’t ride more than 90mins on my current road bike. Definitely need something a bit more relaxed.

    I wish the bike industry would realize that many of us that buy their bikes are no longer young and cannot cope with road bikes with aggressive setups. The new aero cockpits also make it impossible to make big changes and get them to fit out older and less flexible bodies.

      It's not entirely about age. When I raced time trial for the first time, I met this unassuming guy, small stature, grey hair. Then he pulled out his state of the art time trial bike with a disc wheel in the back. When he sat on it he looked like a bullet, he put most 20 year olds to shame with his aero position. He did a really good time as well. After the race, looking at the results, my jaw dropped when I found out he was 82 years old.

    Good news Conor is, you can still drop 99.9% of everybody on the planet on that bike being an ex pro. I am only a modest 6'1" aka Simon and Ollie's height and for me after decades of experimentation with countless geometries, there is but one choice, an endurance geometry. But I am much older.
    Probably 95% of all who ride a road bike would be better served on an endurance geometry. All the fast racers I have trained with over the years never used the drops being a slave to fashion. You can still get aero on an endurance bike when you get the need to.
    Your viewers certainly understand because we are more ordinary riders and endurance bikes are a god send. Rode mine today this morning in fact.

    PS. if looking for relevant content for your viewers, you could create a video comparing real world performance difference between your new endurance bike versus your previous more slammed race specific areo bike. You could perform the comparison on the road and/or in wind tunnel. Just how many watts are in the equation all said?...lets say a sporting pace of 22-24 mph or so. Most will choose a handful of watts lost for back and neck health that allows to ride more often in less pain.

    Proper direction for mere mortals. Geometry is almost there-longer chainstays IMHO help with balance and comfort on long rides. 42cm+ please on future releases.

    I wants one. And they have carbon models, with DI2, down to $2700....wish that had been an option when I bought my used Trek back around Thanksgiving. It'll be a couple years before I can upgrade that. But definitely a contender when it comes time! (I didn't want carbon yet, anyways)

      This isn't the 70s, bikes have had tube storage for years with no seal issues.

    Definitely quite the trend at the minute across many cycling platforms to push the endurance bikes. You ever get that feeling the sheer dumb cost of bikes now is forcing manufacturers to spend time pushing their less expensive bikes to get sales moving, by dressing them up as the bikes to have.

    I would like to know your assessment of the differences between the 2023 and 2022 versions of the Endurace. I bought a 2022 with hopes of finding the features that you describe for the 2023 model - relatively aggressive geometry for ability to pursue fast riding when needed but with features giving a more comfortable ride for pleasurable longer rides, all for a non-pro cyclist such as myself. What I found was that the Endurace did indeed provide the potential for fast riding, although not nearly as fast as a true aero-bike, while did not offer any benefit in comfort over traditional race bikes for the long haul. Consequently, I was quite disappointed in the overall performance of the bike and would like to know why the 2023 would be any better. Thanks.

    It was Greg Lemond that raced on a more relaxed( endurance) frames while racing As a pro.

    This bike looks great! but after not being able to get thru to Canyons chat line for 2 days to ask a question about adjusting handlebar height- I'm skeptic about future support issues.

      To me this is a totally valid reason, the geometry of most bikes is generally said to be designed to work best with a slammed stem, and they always look best this way too. I tend to look for bikes that will allow me to achieve my desired position with no spacers or just a small amount.
      While I am pretty decently flexible I have had a couple of bikes that are just too aggressive where I’ve needed quite a few spacers to make it work, and it always ruins the look.

    Only comes with 172.5m cranks though - not much point sitting more upright if your hips are going to be ruined by over sized cranks

    I‘m not small either but for me the toptube of the endurace is too short. With a saddle hight of 905mm I am probably used to an aggressive position and felt crumbled when testing it. Adding the fact you can no longer get a longer stem that easily it’s no bike for me. Personally I headed for the Grail AL with a 130mm stem for my commuting. However I would recommend the Endurace to everybody who is used to Mountainbikes and feels uncomfortable on a Roadbike.

    I am also tall & have cycled for around 40 years, from the wee age of 17 i was racing in the local sportifs as well as the one day events all across Europe and upsetting the local bookies as well as the riders, anyway i was wondering if over the years has your riding style & position changed at all as mine certainly has. & i wondered if this is due to my body changing as well as the bikes & tech also changing ?

    No wonder Connor is so slow in the corners: His center of gravity is about a mile above the road (harder to balance) and tire widths don't scale up with frame/rider size, so he gets proportionally less grip than a smaller/lighter rider.

    Lot of marketing BS ranting of this bikes "relaxed geo". Comparing Aeroad and Endurace, both in size 2XL: Endurace WB is just 7 mm longer out of which CS is +5 mm and FC +2 mm. STA is the same on both bikes at 73.5° and HTA is only 0.45° slacker on Endurace (73.75° vs 73.30°). HT is 24 mm longer, combined with 3 mm lower BB makes for 26 mm higher stack. Reach is 14 mm shorter, but since it's measured higher up in the air, the real difference at same hight is just 7 mm shorter. So... both bikes share about the same boring old-school (short-high-steep) roadbike geo that we have seen for 30 years or so :)

    I can understand the motivation for a more relaxed comfortable geometry. However, combining a relaxed geometry with an expensive carbon fiber frame and high-speed components is a tough sell. You may as well go for a more affordable build.

      I disagree, often those with the least flexibility are those with the most money to spend. Plenty of older riders have enough money to buy any bike they want, and they want something high spec and special because they can afford it to be - but an aggressive race bike geometry won’t work for them. In my opinion there is a huge market for this, join any cycling club and you will see there are huge numbers of enthusiastic (and strong!) older riders with deep pockets.
      At the other end of the scale if you race (as I do), you will see many fit and flexible young riders using cheap secondhand bikes with cheaper components like 105. Because that’s what their budget allows and in reality having Dura Ace will not really make them faster anyway.

      Yes these bikes are totally misnamed, the geometry is more aggressive than many popular race bikes, and is in fact very similar to that of the Aeroad. They are good bikes but not at all in the endurance category, it’s definitely a race bike.
      The real endurance bike in the Ribble range is the CGR
