- There's a new service on the market that allows you to find accurate, real-time tractor and machinery values, and it's TOTALLY FREE!!! It's called the Value Insight Portal or "VIP", and it's offered by Sandhills Publishing, the parent company of TractorHouse.com, AuctionTime.com, MachineryTrader.com and TruckPaper.com, who help market a huge percentage of the used equipment sold in the U.S.
The Value Insight Portal requires you to provide your e-mail address and set up a log-in, but once enrolled, you can check the auction value and retail value of any tractor, sprayer or combine, or industrial equipment like skid loaders and backhoes.
If you're evaluating a tractor, you'll need to enter the serial number, and on newer machines, the system may recognize what it is and fill in a lot of the specs on the machine for you. If that's not available, you'll need to enter the make, model, hours, and pertinent options, and the portal will give you a value of what the machine would be worth in average condition.
The system will generate three prices. It will show the auction price, which is what it would likely bring that day at an auction, or that a dealer would allow you in trade, and an expected retail price and recommended asking price. If you were selling it yourself, advertise it at the recommended asking price and be prepared to take the expected retail price. That gives you some negotiation room.
The portal brings together data harvested from Sandhills vast contacts with the used equipment market, from online and in-person auctions, to dealer inventory listings, to private transactions from sources outside the industry. It provides a value that accounts for location, options, and hours of a machine. I't literally the best online tool for finding used equipment values that I've ever encountered.
Once you've signed up for the Value Insight Portal, you can also request monthly market reports that show current real-time trends in overall used equipment values. Where is the used tractor market headed now? That will be the subject of my next video.

Nice idea, but they need to work the glitches out. My Kubota 2012 MX4700 shows up as a 2014 ZTR mower that is listed for sale. They won't give values for listed equipment.

I have some older tractors of my late husband to sell, and this looks like a good tool to have.
Just tried it to value my 2021 Massey Ferguson 2860M. It worked pretty well. One thing I will say, is that Serial number needed to be entered with alpha characters case sensitive. All caps for me to get it to work. Retail value came back at a few thousand over what I paid for it 2 years ago.

It will not allow you to skip the serial number part. You must enter a serial number. My John Deere tractor nameplate is scratched bad enough I can't read it. Is there a way to skip the serial number part? If there is, I couldn't figure out how to do it.
I really liked this video as I'm looking to do some selling, buying of tractors. What about other accessories that would go with a tractor - ie. I've got a BX-2200D, but also have the 60" belly mower deck, Hydraulic package mounted in order to use front mount accessories, and 50" snow blower? I was quite happy with results, but would like to add the other items mentioned and not sure how I would value them. Thanks Mike!
After poking around a bit on the site, I did find where I could enter accessory model and serial numbers to find their approximate value.
It would be nice if they added whether the equipment is know as stolen.
