    Thank you for showing this. I used a corkscrew to fish out the rubber stopper holding back the flow and now maybe have TOO STRONG of a flow... At LEAST 2X stronger...

      Great technique! The pressure difference is incredible!

    Great video. You can remove just the black rubber O ring (without breaking the white tabs). It's tricky though. You need small tools to grab a hold of it. I had a wrist watch repair kit handy with long sharp tweazers and very tiny flat head screw driver. Worked fine, nothing broke and can even put back in if desired.

    Screw method worked like a charm. Thanks.

    I just attempted this procedure myself on the same model and could not pull the screw+restrictor out with all of my might. It would spin, but could not be pulled out. I ended up having to drill completely through the center to destroy the integrity of the restrictor, and which point I was able to pull the twisted remains out with needle nose pliers. Shower head works great now, but I don't know why they make it so difficult to remove these things. I had done it previously with a Moen shower head and it popped right out with plier alone!

      Awesome! Yeah, they want to deter people from doing it. I don't understand why. There is nothing less satisfying than taking a shower and not feeling clean!

      Same here. I tried to pull it out with picks, could make it spin but not come out. Drove a screw solidly through it, use a hammer claw to pry and…it just broke the interior of the white plastic. I similarly ended up breaking it into small pieces and removing those, but still was unable to break or remove the white outer ring of the restrictor (!). Seems that it would restrict the flow very minimally, so I've left it in.

    Instead of putting a screw in and pulling the entire thing out it's better to just drill right through it and create a small hole. No leaks this way and won't make the flow unbearable.

    • @IrixGuy

      Adding, if you already have decent pressure to start, just remove the O ring. It took it to the next level (anything beyond might be too strong). Once again great video gave me the confidence to try it out.

    I have a a restrictor in my smaller shower head with four small holes I don’t know how to pull it out hmm

  • @bettygorniak8176

    I popped out the rubber o ring and screen with a small screwdriver.
    Then I used a screw to take out the white plastic flow restrictor.
    I left all this out and put theSpeakman S-2251-PN back on.
    But the shower seems the same both before I took stuff out and after.
    Does anyone know what I am doing incorrectly?
    Thanks. Eddie

      You likely have very low water pressure at your shower head pipe.

  • @tsmatmap

    Do you put the screen and black O ring back in?

  • @mets23q

    Does that mesh act as a restricter? or is it just to keep the showerhead clean?

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  Před 2 lety +2

      I think it may be both. I took mine out!

    • @jmend8859
      @jmend8859 Před 2 lety +3

      The mesh is ONLY for debri so that any depri in your pipes doesn't clog up your shower head. I would leave that in!

    Why is this a thing to do to your shower head tho? Just curious..I have the same brand but a black copper head and it has enough pressure to begin with.. just get a fire hose nozzle if you want more pressure 😂😂😂.

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  Před 8 měsíci

      My water pressure isn’t great here but after I did this, this shower head and all shower heads in my house perform like a boss! A shower with weak water pressure is not an enjoyable shower.

      I stay in hotels 250+ nights per year, and always always swap out the hotels head for mine.
      I'm not peying triple-digits per night to suffer their water-saving desires.
