Given that Mato is the most respectful, while Sheo is gay, I think it's possible to imagine that the problem was with Oro. Let's presume that Gorgeous was Sly's wife. But then she was seduced by Oro, or had seduced Oro. The second is more likely, because Nailsage holds no real grudge towards any of his disciples. That will also explain the line about Oro: "He always seemed to be haunted by something, though I never learned what."

Oh wow! The mushroom dialog was actually kinda comprehensible throughout them all! It sounded like he was parroting you who doubts themselves because of the results your actions bring, but at the end of each encounter says that's not how it should be. Then at the very end says not to worry about your habits, and it was fun talking to you through this journey.
