@@tindelldavis5801It was a book before it was a movie.There are several books called the falconhurst series,Drum and Mandingo are part of that series,but the best one that I read on the subject is called Falconhurst fancy.About a plantation masters daughter named Dovie Verder and charismatic well built slave named colt.If I am correct,there are about six maybe seven books in the series.I have read four or five of them back in the eighties or nineties and it was hard to find the entire series then.I am two books short.The authors names are Kyle Onstot and Lance horner. They have written other fictional books on slave plantation life that are not part of the Falconhurst series. Drum and Mandingo are the easy one's to find. I hope this information helps you.
