Starting early is the best way of getting ahead to build wealth, investing remains a priority. Even in a downtrend, the stock market/crypto market has plenty of opportunities to earn a decent payout, with the right skills and proper understanding of how the market works.

Volatility in and of itself certainly does not inherently drag down portfolio returns over the long term. Case in point: stocks are TONS more volatile than bonds, yet they would pull a portfolio UP more over the long term.
Dollar cost averaging also allows you to play volatility to your advantage. Because the market is volatile you actually get more shares over your lifetime with a volatile market that has the same returns to a given point than a less volatile market.
