  • In this episode of Daytona race bike build series, we install and review the Rapid Bike Evo module! This is a long one but we walk you through how to install this module step by step. Installing an exhaust on your bike means you should probably tune it as well and we decided to go with the Rapid bike module because we loved the auto tune feature! While this is a relatively easy installation, it did take time.

    Thanks for the easy to follow instructional video.

    Serious questions: how long did it take for the two of you to install that wiring harness?
    It seemed like a real bear, routing those wires and making all of those connections. Wouldn’t it have been easier to find a good flash tune or even just have the bike dyno tuned?

    • @MotoMachines
      @MotoMachines  Před 2 lety +3

      Unfortunately, this bike is old enough that ecu flashes aren't as common. A good dyno tune will also cost more than this module costs as well! Because we are often filming these installations, it takes longer than normal to install most items. If I were working on this myself, it would take approximately 2 hours from start to finish. That is including removal and installation of all the bodywork we removed. It really isn't that difficult of an install!

    When's the actual review coming?? This was an install video (which is appreciated) but would love to know how the unit has helped with the bike prior to your Dyno run video.

      Thats a good point, we have only taken the bike on track twice since installing this unit. The first time, my camera man felt as if it was still learning, and this last time he said it felt much better. I don't think we will be doing a review of what its like after the fact, BUT I will say according to my camera man:
      -The bike's throttle is smoother
      -Throttle response is more direct
      -On/off throttle is butter smooth
      -popping on decel is limited
      -Bike runs cooler due to fans coming on earlier
      -Makes a little bit more power, he was pulling away from me pretty good on our 2006 Daytona 675.

      @@MotoMachines fair enough - these units do take a few hundred miles to get a good collection of date for the "learning" phase as you call it but it would have been nice to see some graph data. :)
      Could you confirm if you needed to use any software when installing or true plug and play?
      Getting mixed answers online - thanks again.

      @@quickshiftpov We did not need any software to install this product, plug and play, let it learn. HOWEVER, you WILL need a serve eliminator plug. That is one thing we missed.

      @@quickshiftpov No problem! Just keep in mind that something like this will take time to run properly as it is a self learning system. Over the course of 1 full day of riding, you should see/feel improvements!

    Hi, just added RapidBike Evo to my Yamaha MT10 2017 mod. This bike has stock QuickShifter and cruisecontrol. Is it common that this does not work after the battery has been disconnected?

    Why doesn’t the ECU on this modern bike already do this?…

    • @MotoMachines
      @MotoMachines  Před 2 lety +2

      Modern ECUs can self adjust for minor changes in the environment, like altitude. But they are not capable of self-adjusting to massive changes made to airflow, like aftermarket air filters/exhausts.

      ECUs are locked in for the most part to meet emissions. They don't allow average JOE to mess with something agreed upon with a government. Therefore, if you want to modify your bike by adding a different exhaust, different intake and make more power which in the eyes of the Nazis at EPA means heresy and Green Peace sabotage.....well, this is what you need to do. EPA is OK with running your engine super lean and getting damaged but not ok with the possibility of 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 that you might kill a bird by producing a tiny molecule of NOx. Personally, I have no interest in saving Mother Earth, she perfectly capable to take care of herself, she's been doing it for billions of years. I just want my bike to run right. Therefore f@ck the EPA and Green Peace communists.

    i have the P.C.. now and i either run the 'street' map and have lean flat spots in the rev range big ones or run it closed loop "race" map and it throws a check engine light and disables the cruise control /// 2022 Husqvarna Norden 901 , mechanically identical to the KTM890 , with Rottwieller intake & Arrow exhaust cat & cannister delete & ti silencer , currently with power commander AND wondering if this would be a better option ??

    I don't get what the point of this module is over a stock tuned ecu

    • @tedmarakas2626
      @tedmarakas2626 Před rokem +1

      Fuel correction without changing the map on the actual ECU which sometimes is not possible to do. New bikes must meet strict emissions and they run very lean creating running issues and sometimes engine damage. Do your homework, not difficult and you'll learn a lot.
