  • The Ford nine inch rear end is often the go-to choice for drag racers, autocrossers, and pretty much any performance car or truck owner who wants a stronger rear end assembly. The ford nine inch rear features a removable carrier for easy service, and is both durable and efficient-and since it’s so popular, the Ford nine inch rear end has plenty of parts availability and entire books have been written about upgrading and enhancing its performance.
In this video, you’ll see how to install a Ford nine inch ring and pinion gear set that will ultimately go into a first-gen, autocross-ready Chevy Camaro. You’ll learn the importance of proper pinion depth, shimming, measuring, and fastener torque when installing a Ford nine inch rear end-stuff that’s vitally important for assembling any type of 3rd member. So if you’re thinking about upgrading your rear differential, this video is definitely worth a watch. And check out the parts list below to see what tools and products were used in the Ford nine inch ring and pinion gear installation process too.

What did you set the carrier bearing preload to? I didn't see that!

9" is a piece of cake vs. 8.8, and Gm differentials. 57-year-old design is so much better than what came later.

@@SummitRacing. Thx. I took notes in the beginning. Was commenting about the stand when I got to the end of the video and you mentioned the tool list. I deleted my comment and suggested you mention it earlier next time. :)

Does this work the same with a spool? I bought a car that has 4.11 gears with a spool and I want to change it but don’t know how

This can happen with a Strange 1350 billet 9" flange. There is a footnote when ordering this flange to order a spacer kit with it so that the pinion nut does not bottom on the pinion gear. No crush of the sleeve will occur if this happens.

Nobody ever mentions the tightness of the main bearing adjustment when using the spanner wrench. How much squeeze on the bearings? 🤔🤔

Once you set your final backlash, you tighten each spanner nut to the next hole for the locking bracket.

Lots of missed information in this “instructional video”.
If you are gonna half ass it, at least say in the beginning that “this is a brief summary, not an actual step by step. Our goal isn’t to ACTUALLY HELP YOU, but to just sell shit to you.
