It all depends on distance and traffic. If your flying long distance let's say you wanna go from central jersey to New York Manhattan you could go to your local municipal airport and take a flight there and get there quicker and not be stuck in traffic on the parkway or turnpike up in north jersey and especially the traffic on the George Washington Bridge you could avoid all of that. It really depends on the time of day the traffic up there is usually terrible though.

Helicopter commuting over NYC is a great idea. They should solve the inconvenience of getting to the helipad by offering flights from the Grand Central Terminal area. Maybe from the top of the MetLife building, it has a large roof. Then they'll get so many passengers, they'll have to use bigger helicopters too.

Most likely rented for those small time windows from a business charter service that owns the ship. Maintenance doesn't fall on them as the majority of profit goes to the owner and they take a cut whereas owner /ops have to maintain their own helis. Helicopter DOC is already paid for by contracts for Wall Street banks / businesses that use it regular throughout the day to go across parts of the city etc. Uber seems to be good at snaking into contracts for their benefit without getting hit with those costs, we'll see how long that lasts for them before the Bell Nexus goes into operation.

Time is not saved or atleast not that much and cost is increased if i add to my ride from my destination to the helipad. Kinda out of reach don't you think?
