Whilst it is sad watching this Sri Lankan team struggle to adapt without their legends, we have to remember that all teams have been through this to a certain degree. 2009-2011 Australia were godawful....after Warne, McGrath, Hayden, Gilchrist all left the side. England were terrible after Strauss' retirement for a good 18 months. India are on a resurgence after the Laxman, Ganguly, Tendulkar era ended and they got swatted around in England in 2011 and then at home in 2012. The West Indies struggles are another issue because the Carribbean is playing less and less meaningful cricket and instead turning towards sports like basketball and improving their athletics infrastructure. Sri Lanka, however is a purely cricket nation, and I'm confident they'll rise again. They just need to persist with the young players who will make mistakes.
I like Leach, I think he’s our best spinner plus he’s a pretty useful batsman. This was a very good series win as well. Not many teams win all the games in a series in Sri Lanka, a test series that is.
