    About this video:
Have you ever tried to figure out what a plant, tree or shrub was? In this video I show you how to use a feature your smart phone has, to help you figure this out. Have you used Google Lens on your phone before? It works with google photos to identify subjects in your photos. I figured out that this cool looking yellow bloom that shows up in late winter, is a shrub called Witch Hazel. Do you grow Witch Hazel? Have you ever tried to figure out what a plant, tree or shrub was? In this video I'll show you an app you probably already have loaded on your smartphone to help you figure it out. Google Lens! It works with Google photos to help easily identify anything in a photo. Thanks for watching -Steph 🌱

I planted a Witch Hazel in our yard years ago for the Anna's hummingbirds that stay all year long with us in western WA Zone 8b. My plant is smaller and looks more like a shrub. So nice to have yellow blooms in winter.

This is a great tool! Another faster way to do it on Android is if you have the Google widget, the lens feature is on the far right-hand side of the widget and you just hit that and focus on what you're trying to identify. I just discovered it a couple weeks ago when my husband brought home a beautiful Valentine's bouquet, and I wanted to identify one of the flowers. It was a Safflower!
