Great review, in your opinion can players play non-marine characters in this campaign or is it meant Dow marines only? I hope not since it would suck that there is no campaign for the default game rules.
The campaign is designed primarily for Marines, but I don't think there would be any problem incorporating a civilian character, but I wouldn't really want more than one or two tops.

That marine on the cover is dead meat.
Dark Star was such a weird movie. But it ended with a bang.
I don't get why people want to play marines and then ignore rank. Hicks was the highest ranked marine left in Aliens when he made the decision if I recall. If you want interparty issues rank is perfect. If anything people should pay more attention to rank. Otherwise play another type of campaign.

Campaign play is easier to solo since the players don't have the same kind of Personal Agenda's that the Cinematic adventures have.
I would say that you can, but it won't be as rewarding an experience, doable though.
