    Thanks for the video. It is a great help. It is also good to check the voltage on the fuse 11 under the bonnet as the relay powering that circuit also has a tendency to fail.

    Thank you for the extra info Mrs Mechanic, eventually clicked into place then replaced fan and the whole system worked when I turned the engine over including the Air Conditioning. For a £3.40p resistor from Ebay you saved me quite a bit of money. Thank you again very much, you are an angel. Regards Mike X.

    The setup described is for the Mark I 307 produced till 2005. Later 307 version has a completely different configuration. Also the exact setup in terms of components depends on whether you have climate control or manual airco. The mark II model uses a module (climate control) or resistor (manual airco) just below the shaft where you install the blower fan.

    Hi again Mrs Mechanic, spot on with the diagnosis, today I got a torch into the tunnel that houses the Blower and found the blower resistor wiring loom and terminal was burnt. Have ordered a new loom and terminal and replace. Just another question:
    there is not enough room to replace the loom from the passenger well, will I have to approach this from the driver side well?
    Regards Mike.

      Hi Mike! Glad you have found the problem :) Yes I think you'll have to go in from both sides in that case, or you will need to take the centre console off. I would do another video but I don't have this car anymore. I just did a quick search and found this one:

      I hope that helps a little. Good tip there about attaching the new loom to the old one when pulling it out!

      Mike Griffin if I remember right, to get it back in you need to have it slightly angled to the right so that when you've got it in place, you straighten it up (twist to the left) so that it locks. Hope that helps!

  • @andrewallens4365
    @andrewallens4365 Před 4 lety +1

    I've recently had the same issue on my Peugeot 308 (2008). The fan works when the car is cold, but when it heats up (specifically on a hot day), the fans seem to almost stop despite being on full. That being said, the motor does still turn, just much lower than it should when it's hot.
    I've checked the wires running to the blower, and we're getting a solid 14V to the blower motor when the fan is activated.
    Could this be a resistor issue, or more likely to be the blower motor needing replacement?

    • @msmechanic4024
      @msmechanic4024  Před 4 lety

      Hi Andrew, it does sound like more of a resistor/wiring issue if the fan is working. Maybe when it's hot, the wires or resistor are shorting out. Do you have a/c?

    • @atarimoon918
      @atarimoon918 Před 2 lety

      Hi, I’m having the same problem, only the fan works when it’s hot climate, but when it’s really cold, doesn’t. I’ve sprayed some contact spray and some wd40, it worked for a while, now it’s dead. It can’t be the fan. I’ve had this problem since last year, I’ve changed the fan but I was stupid not to tell the mechanic to change the resistor too.
      Seeing how much trouble you’ve had changing the resistor, with my patience and my hotdog fingers, burning the car seems like a better option for me :)) kidding. I’ll order the resistor and try to give it a go. I live in Norway and going to car service costs an arm and a leg so I better try to do it myself. If I won’t succeed I’ll post a video with me blowing up the car :)))
      Thanks for your video !

    Isn't there a fuse that could have gone that you could check out , before doing all this work pertaining to the resistor?

    • @msmechanic4024
      @msmechanic4024  Před 6 lety +1

      adysaxman77 yes the fuse is F18 in the engine bay. It's a 40amp so unlikely to blow which is a bad design if you ask me! There are a couple of different boxes so check out with website to see which one looks like yours...
      www.google.co.uk/amp/fusesdiagram.com/peugeot/fuses-and-relay-peugeot-307.html/amp
      Unfortunately it seems that most of the time it's either the resistor or wiring that has burnt out. Hope you get yours sorted, will help if I can :)

  • @NIFFIRG56
    @NIFFIRG56 Před 6 lety

    Hi again Mrs Mechanic, new resistor lasted about 3 weeks then the blower stopped blowing last Sunday, thought it was the new resistor at fault and emailed the ebay shop I bought it from, they said it could be everything but the resistor, wiring, loom, thermos fuse etc.The blower works on a separate battery direct, I did have a voltage at the terminal that attached to the blower but not now. Checked F18 fuse connected to the air con and that is fine, also replaced with another new resistor, no joy ant thoughts? This Peugeot 307 is part of the family, its 15 years old and have had no trouble until now, I would hate to see her go!! she does not moan when I get the wrong milk from the supermarket or put the washing machine on the wrong program unlike my Wife.
    Any input would be great.
    Mike.

      @msmechanic4024  Před 6 lety

      Mike Griffin, Hello! Sorry to hear you are having problems again, I just read your last messages and it doesn't sound good. If the terminal was very hot before the fan lost power, I would guess that the wires may have melted. It would have been odd for the fuse not to blow, is it the correct amps?

    Ok so no air was coming out of the heating and ac vent.i brought to mechanic and he said it was the moter.
    he fiddled with some wires and then it’s started to work,would that mean it’s NOT the motor
    But most likely the resistor as it did start to blow..?

    • @msmechanic4024
      @msmechanic4024  Před 4 lety

      Yes, if the motor worked after that then it's either wiring or the resistor. Where did he touch the wires?

    • @msmechanic4024
      @msmechanic4024  Před 4 lety

      It's hard to know unless you get the motor out and test that. If there is a live feed then it's not the fuse and if the fan works (using another power source) then it must be the resistor.

    Hello! Will it look the same on LHD car? You know, just mirrored. I see the difrence beetwen my LHD and your RHD Peugeot. I have a fusebox under the steering wheel, but you have it in car storage.

      @msmechanic4024  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi, from other's comments, I think it's the same but easier to get to from the right hand side (if you only need to replace the resistor) as there is no steering wheel in the way. There should be a side panel to remove and you need to have the vents opened (press recirculation button) so you can get your hand in. Hope this helps!

      @Racerowiec Před 6 lety +1

      Ok I fix it and blower works again :) The resistor was broken. Thank you for your video and for advice.
      I done everything from driver side, because I couldn't dismount a car storage for some reason. Anyway I had to dismount the heater blower first to check if it is working.

    • @Racerowiec

      Mrs Mechanic on the same side as in your car, but it was more difficult to dismount it, because of steering column. You can see it here youtu be/97UB9Yp_UXk
      BTW the fan doesn't work perfectly. It works only on the 1st and on the 3rd gear(but before it didn't work on any gear). Propably I bought broken resistor. On Wednesday, the car parts dealer will have delivry with some new parts and then he is going to give me another resistor.

    • @MikeFlynnUK
      @MikeFlynnUK Před 5 lety

      No - you can access the resistor from the right hand side. Take off the RHS plastic panel, switch the engine on, and press the recirculate button. A vent opens up inside the cavity. Switch off the engine, and reach into the hole. You can feel the resistor towards the central console. Twist it firmly, and it detaches, still connected to the loom. The wires are just long enough to pull it into view and disconnect it. Often the connector and/or wires are scorched and burnt. Note the resistor can be hot, leave time to cool before doing this.
