Like for example if it was a dui and the judge had a relative get hit by a drunk driver it would have been said like; "due to the judge having a relative seriously injured in a dui accident they gave them the highest penalties". Also it's true about the female thing and in this video woman could have been used but when referring to a profession you wouldn't say man bartender or woman doctor you would use male or female, so perhaps it was an attempt to be formal.

Alimony and family court tend to be crappy for men. But in all fairness, there’s plenty of female law professionals and local judges who are aware of that and don’t conform. Ironically, it’s usually “traditional” male judges (in family courts) In red states who are unreasonably biased in favor of the woman
