If you notice...
Sephiroth disappears in a column of light, rather than darkness, because of his past as a hero;
The Emperor explodes in wisps of light and darkness because he's been absorbing the light of his artificial crystals;
Cloud of Darkness goes back to artwork pose.
I don't think Sephiroth simply vanishing is due to his past as a hero... I think it has something to do with his will and origin, and the fact that he cannot fully die (yet). Technically Sephiroth cannot die so long as Cloud exists. We'll have to see what the Remake trilogy does, though.
Golbez and Jecht scenes were wholesome, the enemies aren't actually enemies^^

golbez is the villain who did not die. The anti-villain of the game. The true MVP and hero of the game.
I still play this game till this day.
It's sincerely one the best games i game story. Glad to hear Dissidia fans still playing.
If only the gameplay mods made it. But obviously it wasn't meant to be.

It's funny how, after all these years, these cutscenes endure... because they reference EACH respective game the villains were defeated in.
Even for the scenes where characters simply fade or walk away, it references the continuation of the story for them in their respective stories.
Also, most amusing of all... is the fact Garland didn't exactly perish (and went on to the stories of NT), and would even go on to "another cycle" as Jack Garland... and end up facing The Emperor and ultimately send him back to where he came from, only "powerless" despite all his schemes.
7:43 I love they referenced the final battle quote. Dissidia was so special because it gave voices to half the cast from the 8-16 bit games. And its still the only time we hear them have voices. It'll take so long for them to give them all the FF7R treatment, but I can dream.

Out of all the villains,
Garland and Emperor were my favorites.
Both of them come back that much stronger after they're defeated.

I miss the Dissidia games. I hope they do a remake or a remaster of these games someday.

I've played Dissidia a lot. When Duodecim launched, I only played the new story. I didn't knew that would change the story for the original ones.

My favorite game ever
I find it ridiculous how in this game the heroes can defeat their respective villains without the help of their companions. If they can defeat their villains on their own, they wouldn’t need to in their original game.
Dissidia NT makes this slightly more believable in that a few heroes team up against a single villain
Final Fantasy inconsistencies at their finest, yet we love the series anyway. lol
I think it’s because for all, but besides FF1 rep, dissidia happens after their original games, good dudes lost almost all their good memories due to them losing in the cycle of battle against chaos, so only evil guys have memories of their fights plus those of their past.
When you end dissidia all good rep goes back to their world expect for WoL which in the OG game arrive to the castle with seemingly no name (aside the one you choose, which even might be the one prishe gives WoL during a cutscene) and past, his past in FF1 is dissidia since he was created there that’s all I ended up imagine lol
