    I used Airbnb for the first time this year. My advice to people is if you can afford to, get the place to yourself versus sharing a space and getting a private room. I thought I would be okay with sharing a space but trust when you get there depending on who you share with you will feel it. It definitely will feel like it's not a place to yourself.

    • @KRodCollective
      @KRodCollective  Před 2 lety +6

      I agree!! Having the place to yourself is the most ideal. And it's nice when you come back from a long day of exploring the city knowing you can have the place to yourself and not have to worry about anyone else. Thanks for sharing! 💕

    Your tips are spot on. Yes, go with a superhost, read the reviews, pay a fair price, message the host. Use the filters: we’ve gone for an entire house, off street parking (rental car) and washing machine on our UK trip next month for a month from 🇦🇺.

    I stayed at my first bnb last year. I'm sort of an introvert and it was in a home with my own private room and 2 shared bathrooms. There was 6 bedrooms in total but only 2 were taken up when I was there. I was nervous at first but I actually loved it. I spoke to the owners who lived there a couple of times but other than that they didn't bug me one bit. I'm planning on traveling again this winter and I'll be staying at another one for sure.

    I booked one private room with it's own bathroom but at the site I found out that the bathroom is shared...🙄 so never again. Since then I only get an entire apartment/studio.

    I’ll be staying in my first Airbnb‘s in October. Venice, Florence and Rome. I think I did a good job on my choices. The two key amenities for me was a washer/dryer and an elevator. I’m older and refuse to climb stairs with luggage. Fingers crossed 💕

    Try to get the EXACT location before the cancellation window closes. Some of the marketing speak on listings is BS. I've got a headache right now about Well Communicated Close to Nature in Denmark which now that I can see the exact address I know it would better be described as Next To Train Tracks Dense Residential Neighborhood. Does Denmark have beautiful natural places? Yes! Is this listing close to one of them? No. Airbnb Help DOES NOT have the guest's back past the host's designated cancellation window even if you can show that the host is doing some serious wishful thinking about attributes of their location. This is true even if it's well ahead of your trip. They just want to call you to say tough luck and the host would be delighted to have you cancel so they can keep your money.

    I usually book the entire place for my self so I don't have problem with sharing. However, I don't like that I'm being charged with all those fees, especially cleaning fees when I have to make sure the place is spotless when I check out. It's even worse when I have to clean the mess from previous guests during my check in. Isn't that what the fees is for?

    • @KRodCollective
      @KRodCollective  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Exactly! I don't like that either. I've been staying at hotels more these days because some of the cleaning fees and requests from hosts can be too much for me. Like why are you asking me to strip the bed and unload the dishwasher? 🤔 Make it make sense.

      Hi!!!I get that. It can be a little daunting at first, but it’s a lot easier than it seems. Just try to be as smart about it as you can. Also, don’t forget to cross reference your searches with hotels because sometimes an Airbnb just isn’t worth it. All depends on your needs. 💕

    Thanks so much for this video! I’m planning on taking my first solo trip in October for my birthday to PR. I’ve seen some good looking listings in the area I want to stay in that’s within my budget with a super host. I’ve heard that they’re more recommended as you’ve stated as well. But I get a little iffy when it’s a new listing with no reviews or little reviews. Is that trustworthy? Also, how would you know what to trust or not? How would I go about that?

    • @KRodCollective
      @KRodCollective  Před rokem +1

      Yay!! I hope you have a wonderful trip to PR for your birthday! Yes, new Airbnb listing can be difficult. I tend to stay away from them until they get a few reviews, just for my own well being. Honestly, all you can really do is trust what you are reading in the reviews and go with your gut. Def reach out to the host and try to get a vibe and sense of how they are and take time to read a lot of reviews in detail. It takes some time but it will be worth it. However, also make sure to check the prices of the hotels too. Because sometimes the prices can be the same and you may feel more secure in a hotel. It’s all up to how you feel. Good luck and safe travels! 💕

    Hello, I Love your videos. Question: If a super host just opened up a new apartment and hardly have any reviews on that particular apartment, but have great reviews on the other apartments in the same area, would you choose the new apartment to stay at?

    • @KRodCollective
      @KRodCollective  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi!! Thank you for watching them! That's a good question. I've run into this a couple of times. I would message the host and ask all the questions I could and I would proceed with caution. Sometimes it's fine, if it's a new listing, it is to be expected. But you can never be too sure or too picky. 💕

    Hi there! Thank you so much already for your insight into this. Could you tell about refunds for people who are using debit cards ? The first timers

    • @KRodCollective
      @KRodCollective  Před rokem

      Hi Isnain! The process should be the same. Although I don’t anymore, I have used debit cards for Airbnb and haven’t had an issue. I do know that all Airbnb refunds are only issued to the original form of payment. But if you have any issue with this, you could also dispute it with your bank. Make sure to document everything and have all the evidence to back you up. 💕

      @KRodCollective  Před 7 měsíci

      Hi there! Hmm I’m not too sure. But if it’s dirty or different from what’s listed, make sure you take lots of pictures and document everything, then contact Airbnb customer service. Hope this helps! 💕

  • @MsStaceymichelle
    @MsStaceymichelle Před 10 měsíci

    Also, Are there any unspoken rule about an Airb&b host having free cancelation 48 hours after booking instead of the month before you arrived at their place?

    • @KRodCollective
      @KRodCollective  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes! This can happen. Airbnb does have a cancellation policy for its hosts but sometimes they will break this. It's never happened to me personally, but I do know that it can happen. If they break this, they should be subjected to a fine and you should be able to receive a credit to book a new stay or be given a full refund. They are also supposed to be fined by Airbnb as well. So this is why it's important to do as much vetting as you can. I hope this helps! 💕 Sorry, it's not so positive news.

    I’m taking my first solo trip to Nigeria to meet my boyfriend. I recently booked my air b&b for a beach resort but it a resort not an actual apartment. It’s new to air b&b and new hotel but I check reviews on the website and on GPS. What’s the difference between a resort or apartment in air b&b?

    • @KRodCollective

    You cannot know in advance whether you will like an Airbnb or not. Some of the hosts are really jerks. They may talk like they are noble persons with high ideals, but still cheat you out of your payments. The central AIRBNB organization cannot be relied on to get you a refund if you are being cheated by the local host or manager. Let the buyer beware, do not take wooden nickles should be the motto. If you do not know a particular house, do not rent for very long. Then if they try to cheat you, you do not lose as much as you would if you booked for a month or more. Some hosts are cooperative, helpful and great, others are nasty and mean spirited. The central helpers do not do much to get you a refund. There seems to be no guarantee of satisfaction guaranteed or your money back. And that means you may not get your money back. Do not just assume you can trust a given host or manager or house. And do not rely on all positive evaluations on the site advertising a given accommodation. Take it easy and only rent for a short period. If you then feel you can trust the people, reserve again. If the place is rented to someone else, you might have to look for a different place, but you still have safeguared your money, and hopefully you will find a nicer place with friendlier hosts.
