The criticism is not that England and France are playing defensively it's that they are playing POORLY.
How they play wont matter if one of them end up winning. This aint no club league its just international competition. No need for prime Spain football
@@BG-mr5goHere poorly i guess is that they got lucky on penalties rather than playing defensively to win
@@YuvaSimha almost every team that wins a tournament wins atleast one game on penalties. It's not really lucky for England is it
@@ifstar3 need to win atleast one game penalities is not given. It more of recent trend where teams unwilling to lose. Since fabs will be more forgiving if lost on penalties than losing tldirectly on goals. Teams that won on penalties this tournament are more luckier side that in 120 mins they played. They were reactionary towards end and opposite teams are just fearing to not lose and this reactionary game just won then goals. That i feel is more of luck and that trend is going rn in ucl and world football
exactly this!
England and France both have squads with net worths of more that 1.3 billion (2 most expensive teams at the tournament) and they've both underperformed...criticism is justified!!!
you just need to get through in a tournament
yes and their still in a semi finals so yeah criticize dem how much u want dey are getting results
@@kernmatthews2370 winning through penalties or getting saved via a last second bicycle kick against the run of play isn't getting results lmao.
Clueless.
Difference is one team (France) has a clear plan and has a squad built simply to win games, whereas the other team (England) simply runs around like headless chickens chasing games and riding on luck
@@OneMor3Win who's clueless didn't dey not win that's getting a results doesn't matter how u win in international tournament once u advance dey are in the last four little boy who probably now start watching football so go pee and go in your bed boy

You will go to the 2026 WC for sure...congrats!!
The reality is the expectations created for teams like France and England do not match reality. And a lot of that has to do with pundits and fans constantly downplaying and disrespecting other nations. The reality is parity has never been higher in Europe, let alone globally. Pundits and fans who expect teams like France and England to blow away every opponent they face aren’t living in reality. The level of competition in 2024 is very high and higher than it’s ever been.
Well said.
I mean mate it's fair to expect France and England to blow teams away and entertain us with the quality of players they both have. I get what you're saying but, France and England have been really poor yet are in the semi-finals? So has the competition really improved that much ?
@@mali.mrwetyana5656 Yes, the competition has improved that much.
1000000% correct
the real insult is to try and put England on the level of France.
England has never won the Euros. When they win it they can play attractive football. Macca was in an England team that lost on penalties to Germany in a Euro semi-final. He opted not to take a penalty, leaving it to Southgate who missed. That England team played some nice stuff, but they lost to a more pragmatic and very ordinary German team. This isn't the Premier League there are no style prizes. Macca played for Real Madrid who often play ugly in the Champions League.
Ordinary? Most of that german team won the 1990 world cup by beating Holland, England and Argentina.
Curious - what was Steve’s best result playing in a Tournament?
6 years earlier, bit long in the tooth@@sivaramlord9151
I remember when England beat Germany 5 - 1. Steve McManaman was by far the worst player on the pitch.
An incredible achievement considering he was on the winning team that dominated and still managed to stink the place out.
@@sivaramlord9151 6 of the squad were at Italia 90, but only Klinsmann, Kohler and Hassler played regularly. Of them, Hassler came on in the 77th minute against England in 1996.
Come on macca England's qualifiers r usually the like on Luxembourg, Estonia, San marino, Latvia & teams along those quality, there seeded in qualifiers so u have weaker teams
HBD ale 😂❤ vamos😅
France and England play efficient football- essentially pragmatic football built on defense and this is boring when it comes down to it. That said they are in the semifinals
I had to do a double take at 2:00 because I didn’t remember ever sending a tweet 😂
England ?? This is the best England the world has ever seen since 1966 scandalous robbery 😂
no since maradona in 86 the cheating little beakhead
And it's god awful.
Even if they win the tournament. Where were the blistering Dutch from 88, the French from 84, the Danes from 92. England have bored the life out the tournament and will be remembered en-par with the Greeks in 2004.
Quite simple really.
They have two of if not the two most talented squads, especially in attacking positions, and yet they've both consistently played boring anti-football.
I'm dreading the thought of potentially watching 120 minutes of them in the final.
France and England on paper have the most talented squads in international football on paper, but neither of them have been at their very best at the EUROs, yet they’ve managed to make it to the semifinals regardless of their performances and we could see them play against each other in the final depending on if their results go their way. France are on the brink of their 4th final in the last 5 major tournaments despite the fact that they haven’t scored a single goal from open play, even though they have been solid in defense. The thing with them is that they’re creating chances they just don’t know how to score an actual goal as they’ve been helped by own goals and they have an important aspect that helps a team win titles which is a great backline and if their attack starts clicking and they’re able to beat Spain in the semifinals and Kylian Mbappe finds some form, they could possibly win the EUROs.
On the other hand, everyone sees England as the most boring team to watch at the EUROs. They struggled in a group where they were the only team that won a game, they’ve won just 1 game in 90 minutes throughout the tournament, they’ve had questionable tactics and inconsistent performances from key players, but he has them in a semifinals of another major tournament. The only reason why people aren’t impressed is because historically speaking, they’ve been lucky in major tournaments and that’s because they’ve always been on an easy side of the bracket where until the semifinals or the final, they don’t have to go up against a top team meaning that they have the easiest run to the final I’ve ever seen from a team. If they were in the same bracket as either France England Portugal or Spain, they would’ve been knocked out of the tournament by now and they should’ve been eliminated, they’ve remained in the competition thanks to individual brilliance and Gareth Southgate is a dead man walking because had they lost to Slovakia and Switzerland, he would’ve resigned by now. The difference between them and France is that even when they’re not scoring, they defend very well and they play on the front foot, England apart from a game or 2 look disjoined and dysfunctional as yes this time around, he finally decided to change the formation, but he kept the same team that hasn’t worked out and I still don’t think he knows what his best starting lineup is because if he did, he wouldn’t be making 1 change a game meanwhile apart from 1-2 players everyone knows what’s France’s best team. He’s lucky to have those type of players because you can’t tell me that a team that has a lot of talent including a potential Ballon Dor winner is lacking a proper manager and under him they have a poor record against some of the top 10 ranked countries meaning that even if they go to the final they’ll have to place against either France or Spain and they’re basically guaranteed to lose.
I stopped reading when you said England struggled in the group... France didn't even top there group and your giving them more credit than England.
@@ifstar3 all the teams in England’s group advanced and they failed to win a single game
The criticism does get a little old when both teams keep advancing. And lord if i have to hear about the tough "British media" one more time I'll scream.
Jules should never be asked to be objective about France or French players. He does not even try to hide it. Cocorico all the way.
He hates how england is playing with the talent they have, but if they win playing like that,"I'll gladly take it." This guy.
Mbappe hat trick 🔜
looooooooool
The truth is that we've been spoiled by those big guys who manage to win playing a high level and entertaining football, like Guardiola, Klopp and Anceloti. The national teams, worldwide, are nothing but a shadow of what they used to be. In the past, they were the highest level football could reach. In places like my home country, the national team is called "selecao", which means "the selected". Today, teams like Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Arsenal, to cite a few, are the real "selected". They can scout players from all over the world. National teams pale when compared to those clubs. And the national teams tournaments don't show the same level of energy, desire, competitiveness. For many reasons, the main ones being the players are tired coming from a exhaustive season, and the national teams managers are far from being the top ones - it's a job more suitable for retiring coaches. Sorry, but the real fun is not coming from the world cups or Euros.
Anchiloti does not play good football. Madrid have had very boring matches the last 2 seasons, only scraping through with last minute goals. Remember how many times bellingham. Rodrygo and the uruguay midfielder bailed them out?
I think we should have more part time national managers who manage at club level throughout the regular season. That way FAs can afford to pay top managers their worth for what is effectively a couple of months' work a year. Instead (in England's case), we have Southgate - whose only achievement at club level is getting an established Premier League team relegated - being paid £5 million a year.
We are living in an age where quality of teams are so poor that even Ronaldinho gave up watching his own beloved national team. Him being a statesman and a great ambassador for Brazilian football.
Back in 2002 and 2004, everyone cheered on their favourite team and every nation was expecting to get a good showing from their squad.
When you look at the squad list you see men, real men take on their duties and give their 100 percent. They will contend for every ball and get physical.
These days all you see are these ballet type players that caress and pass around with the ball, stringing passes for fun due to the overly stringent refereeing standards.
Back then, even before the ball reaches the feet, a burly defender comes and tries to breathe down the neck of the receiving footballer and make a tackle or interception with physical contact.
Footballing standards has dropped significantly
In other words football has gone woke
Too many games now, its not worth the extra exertion at the end of the season. Teams like england and france get paid next to nothing , or nothing at all, face daily onslaughts from fans and media, all after playing 60-70 games a season. You can't blame them really.
Because France and England have proved themselves to be the most boring and unwatchable teams in the tournament so far. The fear for me is a France v England final.
All teams who didn't win anything for the last 24 years may play defensively. Everybody else, please give us a show!
Literally, what enables the creation of those very expensive international tournaments is us watching the games. As a customer, Yeah, I am going to criticize if a national team with the talent and means to play good football doesn't do it. I will criticize teams giving us those souless safe performances that put us to sleep. Some people act as if their life would depend on their Nation teams' results and forget why we are there in the first place, to watch some fackin goals.
Most people who watch international tournaments know the format and know what to expect. Seemingly you dont.
They criticize them because most of them picked these two teams to win and they are disappointed by their performance. Also down deep they love them.
You can olny beat what's in front of you 😅😅😅 -stevie
Colombia won 5-0 in the quarter final of the copa america.
...versus Panama!! Uruguay has to be beaten which I hope. Argentina in the final is no match for the Cafeteros.
Well because this teams are not playing wat the pundit are expecting base on individual quality.but few players are doing that.
Jules play and score like bellingham and celebrate like him
Juls is exhausted of all these none sense and ten million hours of chat about england. Let him go get some rest😅
Every tournament these people say the same thing "what if england wins playing like this" and then they dont. If you cant beat a top 10 team ever under Southgate you arent winning any trophies.
The fact that Jules literally thinks hes as good as them, takes it personally, like dood you're a reporter, not a football star. Chill out.

in this rhythm if the "big" ones continue to play like that what you expect for the smaller teams ? the game will become so ugly at this pace that soon fans will loose interest into football , as nobody wants to see all the teams play like Greece when they won (at least they had a reason with the team they had). This is the issue.
Probably because they don't deserve too win 😂 come on Spain
They're criticised because their style of play is negative and dull as dishwasher despite the individual talent. Simple. End of discussion. Move on.
In France’s 5 games we have only seen a total of 4 goals. Two penalties and Two own goals. Huge letdown

The English are detached from reality while the French think reality revolves around them.
There are 4 serious teams in euros
Spain Germany France Italy
Rest all are fillers
They should just organise euros between these 4
Italy have missed 2 world cups and stunk out Euro 2024. If you went to Italy and said Italy were a serious team they'd laugh in your face. Germany have done nothing for 10 years. England have been to 2 Semi finals and a final.

It won't matter who wins when people stop watching football. That's the place we are going, with this mentality and the unwatchable terrible games it is producing.
Jules would eat himself if he could, the only thing stopping him is the acrid bitter taste
I hope Netherlands win Euros that be cool.

France is going to snuff Spain out and lost to English in final
England will bore Holland out to get to final and then bring Spain down to their level and beat Spain on penalties in the final....
Bc they suck and are boring. The whole point of sport is to entertain.
When Italy play defensive = "Rubbish!" "Disgrace!" "This is not football!"
When everybody else is defensive = "Well, defense is the foundation of everything." "I'd rather play defensive and go al the way."
