Nice Video. If you haven't already can you create a video on how to start a PE firm from scratch?
There were so many principles that I picked up from King of Capital that are transferable on all scales of business acquisition.
Hi Anthony, I'm glad you found it useful. I really liked it. Have you read the new Steve Schwarzman book "What It Takes"? I heard it's decent, but looking for more reviews before I read it.
Got here from the documentary on RJR Nabisco, after watching Barbarians at the Gate. Great "Gateway" Movie into this field, no pun intended. Thanks for the books recommendations.
Thanks for sharing! While PE has changes quite a lot since the RJR Nabisco deal, I think Barbarians at the Gate is a great book!

Any suggested resources for Real Estate related Private Equity? Thank you in advance
hi Steve , can you provide some feedback on how one could make an entry into the fund raising / finding Private client investors for this sector, either primary or secondaries.
Barbarians At The Gate
King Of Capital
The Future Of Private Equity
Thanks for writing this Rykel. I just updated my description to include these. Thanks again for listing these for others.
Hey Steve , I'm a 19 year old kid from India , I really appreciate you putting this information out , I'm trying to enter the world of finance , it would be really great for me if you suggest a source of information for me to gain Knowledge about the world of finance and investing , and financial markets and services in general , books , magazines , online articles , lectures , videos , anything that you could do , would be of great help to me , thank you for the video , Loved it!
Hi Sanket,
Thanks for taking the time to write. I appreciate your ambition and willingness to learn.
Some of the best resources I recommend to my students are the resources provided by Aswath Damodaran from NYU Stern. He has a great CZcams channel and a great blog.
There are also many books/articles/interviews with Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet and Peter Lynch that can help you build a good base.
Also, what I like to do is subscribe to various newsletters of wealth managers that I respect to hear their perspectives on current events. I also subscribe to daily updates, such as Bloomberg's "Five Things You Need to Know to Start Your Day". Also, I like the team at Private Equity Insights and subscribe to their newsletter for updates on the PE industry. Another thing that I do is that I set Google Alerts for various things in the PE Industry I like to keep up-to-date on.
As for books in general, I also like reading biographies of entrepreneurs that built businesses. Three of my favorites are:
- Made in America - Sam Walton
- Shoe Dog - Phil Knight
- Call Me Ted - Ted Turner
(I'm biased about "Call Me Ted" since my first PE deal was in the billboard industry - so this may not be for you).
Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.
If anyone else reads this and has any recommendations, please feel free to share on this thread. I'd love to hear what others are looking at!
Thanks again for reaching out, Sanket.

Hi Anna, thanks for your message. I have invested in real estate, but my expertise is in private equity. With that said, I will create a video on real estate in a couple of weeks (will post it August 17th, 2021) since you and some other people have asked about it. I hope it will be helpful.
