- April fools yes it’s that time of year and I am looking forward to some danish April fool pranks. I got to see some from years past, and this American really enjoyed the pranks from Denmark. Danish people are funny but not just funny. Their sense of humor is satirical intelligent and gets you to think. In fact there is a pause before you laugh sometimes. And sometimes you laugh and then pause and then laugh again. So you don’t feel manipulated but encouraged to see the foibles of the world, as well, foibles that require a laugh and a moment of questioning as to what are we really doing. The more an American can experience the curious Danish sense of humor the more an American will be able to see more humor in the world.

The best one, I remember, was when I still went to school.
Early in the morning, the news in the radio said that an aircraft was crashed in a forest on Fyn. The aircraft was full of smuggler cigarettes. They also informed that the police were very busy with another thing, so they couldn't get to the crash site immediately. So people were asked not to enter the forest. Off course, many people chose the day for a "walk" in the forest. The radio station, later had to announce that it was an April Fools' Day joke, to avoid the forest and animals getting overrun.
I will never forget it, it was so funny. It was around 55 years ago.
Growing up in Denmark always includes never believing any news that comes out on the 1st of April xD
