    This version of the Tactics Ogre soundtrack was rendered with a live orchestra, which is what I prefer. The previous versions were rendered with MIDI, though 2010 version is amazing. The 1995 and 2000 versions are the short-composition versions. The 2010 and 2022 (Reborn) versions are the long-composition versions.

      @Gravijahz Před rokem +1

      they were made through sequencers, synthesizers and such, not "MIDI." MIDI is just an interface for audio equipment, and what people associate with MIDI, the Windows file, used that format to assign channels so that soundcards and synthesizers would know what sounds to play for what.
      The SNES version for example was done using the SNES soundchip, which was built around storing instrumental sample data. The PS1 version is the same, except the PS1 sound chip is a bit more advanced. Most RPGs didn't use redbook audio, as it takes up way too much space.

    • @davidhill8565
      @davidhill8565 Před rokem

      @@Gravijahz The PS1 soundchip has 24 channels, while the SNES soundchip had 8 channels. The PS1 version of Tactics Ogre soundtrack just imitates the SNES original rather than utilizing the perks of the PS1 soundchip.

    I recently compiled a playlist on a flash drive containing four versions of the Tactics Ogre soundtrack with each song sorted version to version:
    • the original SNES version (1995)
    • the MIDI version that was included in the soundtrack with the original(2000)
    • the critically acclaimed PlayStation Portable version (2010)
    • the Reborn version, released on Nintendo Switch and other modern platforms (2022)

    Really hate the fact the old tracks aren't an option, some instruments and tones in this version don't exude the same feeling. Its like it could be a remix played on the credits thats nice to hear versus something you want to hear for 30 minutes in an actual fight. I get that feeling from a lot of the tracks and its also wrong as well as the original music had notes from the composers. Sometimes of what the music was supposed to evoke, or how they felt writing it and could already feel the heart and soul put into those pieces. Its like tactics ogre snex/psx had a very good ost, the psp version enhanced every version of those tracks and kept the same feeling--whereas like usual with squeenix music remasters--this one didn't. I think the only song re-renditions they've gotten right is Zodiac Age and Crisis Core Reunion. FFX they messed up horribly and this games version of the new tracks is just not the same.

    • @davidhill8565
      @davidhill8565 Před rokem

      @@Greatsharkbite The original 1995 rendition is rather short in terms of composition. The only other option is the 2010 PSP version, which is well suited like the Reborn version. The Reborn version was recorded with a live orchestra, while the previous versions were MIDI based.
