DISASTER AT FIRST NOVICE EVENT! | MAXIMUS & KATO GO EVENTING || VLOG 61

A mixed day Eventing and I’m absolutely gutted for Maximus 😢
Maximus really was up there after his dressage and showjumping and he was absolutely flying the XC until thw water which was very tough and technical! We definitely need to do some more practice with technical fences but he was absolutely super apart from that and flew round the rest which was very very tough and was causing a lot of problems!
Kato had a very good run and finished 11th!!! Dressage wasn’t our best but It happens! Showjumping is always tough at Larkhill but Kato jumped one of his best rounds to just touch 2 so i Was very happy! Then he absolutely flew the xc making it feel easy and we had our fastest time at novice just 1 second over the optimum time!

They are huge! Along time ago, when I was training to do Prelim, I didn't--mostly by that time I'd had a few confidence shattering crashes. I quit jumping at that point (even after 20 years showing h/j). My hat's off to anyone brave enough to compete at this level and above!!

@@Bianka_Taylor Cross country was alternately terrifying but super fun. Even after all these years (72 of them!), I'm still an addict. I can still remember all the events I showed at (including Fair Hill) and the ones I got to attend as a volunteer, groom, or spectator (Radnor, Chesterland, Essex, Dressage at Devon). Southeastern Pennsylvania was a great place to live if you were a horsey sort!

Aww Maxi is good at flicking his toes in dressage :) It looked really tough, not sure what "Novice" is in terms of height (for me novice sounds like it should be the lowest level, for novices... you know). In my country we have H80, H90, H100 and *, **, etc... not that I've ever seen a *** being held in my country.

I'm pretty sure its 1.10M height wise, in the UK people usually go up the levels going BE80, BE90, BE100 then Novice and so on 😂I'm a show jumper so don't quote me on it 😂
