...unless you react to alerts, where there's NO option to translate, almost ALL clips, movies etc. have a faint print that reads "translate" under EACH comment!
You must click on "translate" (right under each comment of myriads of languages) to activate it & google will translate instantly by default to the language of your first choice...here in Seattle, WA 🇺🇸 for example my default setting is American English, despite my mother tongue being Turkish, & my preferred language being German (& I'm fluent in 2 others as well) I opted *in my settings* for American English mainly because I live in the US & not British English that I learned for eons since first grade HS.
