I am completely shook y'all. I did not expect that clay mask to do my hair like that! The apple cider vinegar was stank BUT pretty much did the job when it came time to cleanse my scalp and hair. Applying leave-in conditioner in the shower is a game changer - so, so efficient. My gel even worked better to clump my curls! I don't think you understand...I'm obsessed.

If yâall tryna do this method, maybe just use this as a one time prep for winter rather than a regular routine! First of allâŠIT STANK. Second of all, the double cleansing could be too harsh for some of yâallâs hair over time. So just be smart and use at your own discretion!
Iâm gonna play it by ear and use JUST the clay mask in place of my shampoo ONCE a month. đđŸ
the gel is supposed to be botanical to ensure maximum moisture :)
I tried it and my hair broke off.... too much manipulation for my fine hair
czcams.com/video/nSvy8Wq5BoQ/video.html
Yup yup I do it at most twice a month
Ur correct, this method too often will break ur hair off especially because it was designed for low porosity hair. His curls were revived but he aint at maximum hydration. This method is over 14 yrs old made by Cherry Lola so way back in d day we just called it the cherry lola treatment. To reach max hydration the treatment is actually done for 7 days i think but ive modified it yrs ago to be done in 3 days. After this initial 1st stage. The vinegar part is just a 1 time deal in the entire method though. U maintain ur results with once a month or every other month clay treatment if ur hair says its needed and deep condition once a week with heat or overnight is a must. I do the full treatment once a year and thats in the summer because my hair stays under a cap with deep conditioner for 3 days. I rinse every evening and recondition. Doing so gets me to max hydration quickly and thats when ur curls are really formed, soft and just juicy. No friz to be found.
I came for the results but always return for the edits and jokes. Will always gets a good laugh out of me. Your hair turned out beautifully Will, thanks for doing the video.
The big surprise is that you could have left off the ACV. The clay is a clarifying agent. It can also be used as a shampoo. You will still get the same moisture.
I came here to watch the video, but also to be like #1000 đ

Finally, something to watch.
yaaas
Precisely.
I almost said something like "you should be making a video right now sir" when I saw him comment on napturals video a few days ago haha.
Will, you're so adorable. Let the haters hate ( disrespectful comments in the beginning) Chile! They watching so you're doing Everything right boo!
When using clay mask:
1) Section hair first.
2) Damp it with water.
3) Then put clay mask in until whole head is dry (15-30 minutes)
4) Rinse :)
How often do I do this method?
@@sunshineramirez7766 I do it once a month or before getting my hair done :)
Also, because it's clarifying it should be the ONLY clarifying step you use then followed by deep conditioner (:
@@sunshineramirez7766 depending on your lifestyle/ how heavy are the products you use
I make mine more runny and I cover it with a shower cap rather than let it dry on my head. It's easier to rinse out and the results are the same.
I tried this when I first went natural. Five years later I donât have the energy to do this, my hair is lucky if I deep condition for longer than five minutes.
I see you with the new camera and backdrop. I AM LIVINGGGGG
@9:50 âI havenât been shocked like this since the 4th grade when I stuck a fork in the outletâ I frigging lost it đđđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Not Will stirring with the handle of the spoon. Lol but that apple cider vinegar will definitely help with your dandruff oh, so you should actually do a rinse once a month. And your curls are Poppin'! Another great video.
With the way my dandruff is set up, I'm willing to try just about anything! I will definitely be incorporating ACV into my monthly routine.
@@WillOnAWhim I've been dying for a solution to the dandruff for yeeeears. Struggling from head and shoulders bottle to head and shoulders bottle. I'm sold on this ACV rinse. I got Braggs all up in the pantry, so I'm ready. Not for the dookie smell, ofc.
Dandruff has a variety of causes. If it's real dandruff (the yellow thick scales that fall off in big sections) it's caused by a fungus. For this you need medicinal shampoos.
If it's the fluffy white small bits that you can agitate with your fingers it's because you either have a) buildup on your scalp, or b) dry skin.
If it's a) a good clarification routine and moisturizer on your scalp will help. If it is b you need to be more methodical.
You can clarify, but that will strip your skin, which causes more dryness, which causes more dandruff. Do not use head and shoulders. You need to treat your SKIN as a whole.
What helped me is the following: omega 3 supplements. I was severely deficient in the omegas and omegas contribute to how your skin retains moisture. I applied a pre-poo if bio-oil. You could use hemp oil but hemp oil is really expensive. I left the bio oil in for 2 hours and then clarified.
Use a scalp agitator to stimulate blood flow to the scalp at least once a week. More times if you have the time.
You need to know the cause of your dandruff and whether it is dermatological or not. Dermatological issues require strong clarifiers like head and shoulders, and if it is psoriasis it requires other medication, but for the other causes, shampoos like head and shoulders will literally make it worse.
@@ProseismyVision I'm not sure if it worked for you but I personally live by ACV. When I first went natural like 8 years ago I had the worst dandruff. I it was constantly agitated sometimes Ill have sores if it was real bad. But for me ACV really cleanses the scalp and keeps it clean for a while even when it gets itchy still no flakes.
I personally put absolutely nothing on my scalp aftwards I deep condition, moisturize, leave in condition and put oil (on strands not scalp) and I live by it honestly
Interesting. I havenât tried this method in this order. Usually I clarify, Aztec mask, then deep condish. May consider giving this a try.
The production on this video was AMAZING! The video was both so informative and entertaining. I usually don't comment on youtube videos but I wanted to let you know that the amount of work you put into making quality content isn't going unnoticed.
Iâve heard that the African Pride Moisture Miracle aloe and coconut water is comparable to wet line.
I actually just used a gel yesterday that literally is a Wetline dupe, but black owned đ I can't wait to show y'all!
African pride is WAY more moisturizing
@@rashadheyward Yesssss it is i used their gel(african pride) it still had hold and was wayyy less drying. but i used the wetline on top
@@rejesus7106 wet line on top đ€ didnât think about that. Have u used African pride by itself? And noticed a difference?
@@rashadheyward yes i have i did on its one and with wetline and i like the onw with wetline better since i had better clumpage and more hold the other one on its own the roots stayed damp
Ok I've been thinking about doing a max hydration method after getting my hair straightened for the first time in 2 years. Now after seeing this imma definitely do it! Thank you Will! Your wash and go looks sooo niceđđđ„°đ€
Watch Neki cakes video on maximum hydration method, perfectly detailed. It's on CZcams
I always use the bentonite clay mask to bring my curls back to life after I straighten it.
MHM been around since 2014/2015. I did it when I first went natural 6 years ago. If memory serves it had a lot more steps than what Will did here. He missed the cherry lola step for sure. And there are product ingredient restrictions similar to the curly girl method (no silicones, mineral oil, parabens, etc etc etc...it's a lot). That made it difficult to find products that were cost effective for this method back then, maybe better now with more natural hair products on the shelves. MHM helped me to really learn how to manage my hair and eventually I was able to modify it and create the regimen I still use today which is kinda in line with what Will did in this video but I start with shampoo instead of acv.
Right! And it was a 7 day commitment! I worked out of town for about 6 months with no family , that's when I tried MHM (2014). The product list was insane! I was going to Whole Foods for a particular conditioner and gel! But when I tell you my hair was GORGEOUS and healthy!!!!! Bouncy for no reason at all! And the only product on my hair was an organic gel! So the conditioner I used changed ingredients and it absolutely made a difference in my hair's texture.
There's definitely way more IMPORTANT steps missing from this.
"Not a single soul"đđđđđ
âI got the receiptsâ đđ
Eh I just mix the Aztec clay with water, acv & my fav oils. It's more spreadable & I leave it on for 20 mins. After that I put in a deep conditioner, rinse & style.
I love max hydration method I usually apply the rinse first the mask 2nd snd rinse them out together, deep condition and style. Its definitely the BEST hair reset especially if moisture is a struggle and i live in Az soo this every month and a half keeps my hair on track!! Loved the vid willđ€
Can I do a regular wash day then the method?
Iâm super late to this lol but you could minimize the steps by just mixing the clay with acv, no need for the rinse.
@@zooweellama yes but i dnt like to put the mask on my scalp b/c its so hard to get out and really off the scalp so i put the mask a little bit off my roots
I really like how well groomed you are. I wish, more men would take care of their bodies like this.
For a smooth mask with the clay, use apple cider vinegar. You can even do half acv and half water. The acv just will help make it smooth and mix it all the way together
Probably going to try this...did a big chop recently đđ praying it grows back healthy đ
Definitely hop on that clay mask!
I will đthank you
It will I did my big chop last year and my hair is back to the same length... no heat girl.
@@satona8334how often did you use it? I just did a big chop and Iâm so sad about it. It took me a while to grow my hair out
I initially was interested in the method until I realized that I had the opposite problem. I just remember the craze of people swearing by the method who then reported the long term effects were dangerous and caused the hair to dry and break off đ€·đœââïž (ie protective princess) as well as the fact that the creator who invented the method has all but disappeared.
yea my hair broke off from trying this a couple times over the summer.
đšPlease do not do it long term. đšIt damages your hair strands and literally makes them look like frayed rope under a microscope. Notice that everyone who uses MHM are not able to retain length. Iâm saying this as one of the early co-developers and testers of MHM. Please do not use this method on any type of regular basis!!
Omg how often do you recommend? And how did it damage your hair Iâm curious
@@raspberrysoda2277 Yes, I had before and after microscope photos. Before my hair was just okay... after, it looked like frayed old rope under a microscope. What happens is TOO MUCH water is forced into the hair strand and then sealed so it literally BURSTS. I'm sure you hair could handle like once a month, but please don't do it on a regular basis. Your hair will break. I personally wouldn't even do it at all! You can get the same results simply using bentonite clay mixed with simple water and then put curling pudding after.
Yayy a vid to enjoy while I'm on lunch break
Lol Willll the clay mask took me out ! You should use a little bit more clay, apply it in sections, and mix it with ACV instead of water . Crazy curl definition for sure ! Love the video as always đ
I'm glad you liked doing the maximum hydration method. When I was doing this I found an article of someone who did it a couple of different ways I'll see if I can find it but for anyone with the extra extra dry hair plus dry conditions like myself, I recommend if you have a steamer to use it with the deep conditioner or do the misted shower cap under multiple layers of warm towels and such. Just a tip from the brittle dry and crusty crew.
My girl JESS!! Thank you!! I love seeing my fav youtubers support one another đ€đ€
Agreed!!
Your videos are too funny đ. I love apple cider vinegar rinse and sometimes use ACV in my Aztec bentonite clay mix. To mask that NASTY apple cider vinegar smell I use 3-4 drops of peppermint essential oil and it makes it smell much better. Would love to see you use the ecoslay Jell-O shot jell cause I think it gives wet line definition.
It was invented by a woman named Pinkee Cube years ago back to the days of the black hair care forums online. đđœ

A spray bottle makes applying the ACV rinse easier.
I'm always caught in the middle because the nozzle on the applicator bottle delivers more of the rinse directly to my scalp and faster đ©
@@WillOnAWhim you could put it in a hair steamer, or am I doing the most?
Look.... I tried the ACV rinse with a spray bottle once and nearly went blind. No matter where I looked, the ACV was in the air and ready to fight!!

Bentonite clay is amazing and it's all natural so don't worry about any of it that goes in your mouth because in Africa they also eat it but it's good for hair, the body, skin in general and your face. One piece of advice though start with the water add the clay to the water it would immediately soak in then you can stir it and make the paste or a you know thick to medium amount... I use peppermint tea to mix mine I don't use vinegar for that. I love it because it rinses clean.
Your editing is amazing and it just keeps getting betterđđŸ

Your curls seem looser than mine but a combo I love is the mane choice do it fro the culture gel as a base with aunt Jackieâs donât shrink flaxseed gel. I saw a CZcamsr suggest this combo and Iâve been hooked ever since
Light recommendation: cinnamon or coffee can help with the smell if you do that during one of the mask steps. I came across a diy coffee deep condition a while back and it gave my hair a nice, pleasant smell; I recently lightened my hair using a cinnamon-lemon juice-honey method that took like 3 6 hr tries (really not the best, but the color is pretty), and the cinnamon smell stayed in my hair for almost a week even after a thorough wash--not a complaint, just remarking that the smell is resilient enough to maaaaybe counteract the vinegar smell. But that shit does stank, so I can't guarantee anything.
Shoutout to this method. Trying it this weekend! Looks like fun.
I subscribed immediately after I saw the "receipts" LMAOOOO. You are absolutely hilariousđ»! To make this more convenient, you can always just add the apple cider vinegar directly to the Aztec Clay. The results are the same.
For Gels try either aunt Jackieâs flaxseed elongating gel or Design Essentials honey curl forming custard!! They give the hold and definition for me without the hard cast feeling.
Hm. Iâm happy for you that you finally discovered the wonders of Aztec clay but Iâm not sure about this method. The clay is already clarifying (especially if you use acv with it) so I feel like it undoes the work of the deep conditioner.. so I feel like you can do steps 1 and 2 or the latter steps, not all together? Idk. Lol.
Edits on point as usual. :)

I tried MHM for about 3 weeks and it works. When I need a boost of hydration, Iâll do this method.
Back in the day Garnier in my island was used by latinas and it was a battle between Sedal and Garnier. For me Sedal won. I was living in Mexico for 6 months and sedal was bomb. There was a sedal in a pink bottle that smelled so good.
for a gel, cammile rose has a curl maker that has all my curls define its not super heavy so I think after a day or two may frizz up, But spray some water and that thang is back on popping. Best ingredients for a gel too.
