Then further betrayed him by letting another woman try to intice him so she could sleep with the other guy.

OP should have requested an enforceable agreement that his contract for a third book was fulfilled if his wife slept with Gianos and he was free to go to another publisher and divorce his WW, Ellen with all legal expenses and any alimony paid by Gianos to the divorce lawyer of his choosing. Instead OP turned out to be a simp to his wife who was free to cheat per the precedent of this story throughout their marriage. No honor; No respect.
There are several versions of this story. I like this one the best. I always have the same criticism on the tale. Are there no knives or forks on the island. If you didn’t bring a weapon make one with what you have. Make your statement clear. Touch my wife. You better not close your eyes. Neither one of you.
In a similar story, the wife spent the night with the Boss and had a marvelous night. The husband told the Boss what a little man he was who had to buy married women and destroy marriage to be satisfied. In that story they hade children and he divorced her when she got back. Both stories are great.

Very good story with a good ending. Nobody is perfect and sometimes you have to learn the hard way. I don't agree with anyone who thinks you end something good when a life lesson was learned without anything terrible happening. By some of the comments I read it appears some people seem to have never made a bad decision. Experience is a hard teacher. It gives you the test first and the lesson afterward. Some lessons don't have to lead to immediate termination.

they both knew everything before they made it happen. it would have been a depraved will satisfied with a final laceration because if there is no mention of laceration it means that the marriage was worth nothing. and nothing is worth nothing. in conclusion we can say that the characters decided to knowingly decide to laugh. and that's stupid.
