I know which one I disliked the most... "The Cloverfield Paradox" is one of the worst movies I've seen in the last decade.
That is, until Rebel Moon came out.
Dang I hope there was something on the list you did enjoy! That’s a very strong opinion can I ask what made you dislike The Cloverfield Paradox so much? For me it’s not winning an award but I still liked the confusing thought provoking nature of it. And some of the acting I think is pretty solid.
@@DavidDingoBleecher Mt expectations were so low I actually enjoyed Rebel Moon. We played 'Spot the Trope' lol :)
@@richardh8082 you two are setting the bar super high for rebel moon, I’m waiting on my wife to watch it.
Are there any that have leading none simp White Males or over the top red neck domineering YEEHAAAS I wonder? Just asking as IT is getting pretty FNing obvious, along with most commercials now.
Spectral is extremely underrated! That movie kicks ass!
100% I recommend it to anyone who will listen!
It only has like a 6 on some websites, dont trust most review sites though
I will check those out. Spectral looks good.
I'm currently watching Dark which is a slow burn drama with the scifi element beginning to build. Recommended.
Love Death and Robots, and of course Black Mirror are outstanding scifi shows.
Favourite is Alice in Borderland, admittedly not original as it's an adaptation from Manga but it is such a great experience. Highly recommended.
Spectral definitely worth checking out! I really enjoyed Love Death and Robots, but have no see Alice in Borderland, I keep seeing it pop up though maybe I’ll have to check it out.
Spectral is one of my favourite sci-fi film of the last few years.
I 100% agree! I don’t know about you but I’ve rewatched it numerous times and it’s great every time 😁😁
Dude Spectral is such a great movie. I’ve been telling people about it for years. Parallels (2018), Infini (2015), Arq (2016) and Code 8 (2019) are few other streaming scifi movies I like
Love Spectral! Some great options there and I actually had Code 8 on the list but just cut a few movies out to keep the video from being an hour long lol but like Project Power it’s another cool alternative take on the superhero genre.
Great recommendations. I really like the evolution of your video production: more polished, more concise, on-camera cameo, all work nicely together to raise the viewer's interests. The movie assessments are on-point, letting the viewers know what kind of experience they can expect without giving away the whole plot. Good luck with growing this channel.
Thanks a ton! I figured it was going to be a lot of learning when I started this and I still feel like I learn something new every day, it’s so much. But I try to get better with each one. Glad someone noticed :) also glad you enjoyed the recommendations!
I wanted to say thank you. I watched "In the Shadow of the Moon" it was a really good movie. Your recommendations are spot on. I have seen 8 of these now and they are all really good. I think my favorite out of them is "Project Power".
That's awesome, so pumped! You are welcome! Project Power is pretty awesome, the scene with Jamie Foxx at the end is really EPIC. Definitely stands out 😁😁
First time to your channel…. Whole heartedly Agree with your recommendations and your quick takes. I’m now going to re-watch all of these. 😀
Thats awesome! 😁 Glad you like the recommendations! Which one are you gonna rewatch first?
Thank you for this. Enjoyed your picks. I’m a fan
That’s so awesome! You’re 100% welcome! 😁
Great video!! Fantastic list! I love all these movies too and I am going to go revisit a couple of them I have not seen in a while.👍
That's awesome!!! I am glad you like it. I hope you enjoy them this time around as much as the original watch! 😁😁
These are perfect, very well made!
Thanks I hope people enjoy!
Mind blowing 🤯?! Cool VERY COOL !! CZcamsrs Never overreact and hyperbolize for views! Jaw Dropping !!! Cool Very Cool -RLM Nerd Crew
Have to appreciate the sarcasm and reference. Very Cool!
Thank you! Happy holidays!👍👍👍
Your welcome! Happy Holidays to you too! 😁
Great list - keep it up...
Thanks a ton!! 😁I will do my best for sure
Great video and the list of movies are awesome. Recommend toning down the details about the movies, as its imo a bit spoiler'ish. Just a thought. But great edit on video 😊
Thank you 😁 I am glad you like the list! I appreciate the recommendation, it's something I have been thinking about and trying to find the perfect balance between making sure to give enough but not too much. If that makes sense lol. I hope I didn't dissuade you from checking any of these out!
@@TheBingeList99 Yeah, it a tough balance and also really hard with some movies. Like Spectral, which I agree is the absolute best on the list. Awesome movie and best part is not knowing, as in the less you know about the movie, the better the first watch is😁. And no absolutely not, was a good list. I recommend all of them to👌
I appreciate it, I am not new to recommending movies but super new to the whole making it a video thing so any critiques are helpful 😁 Could not agree more with your assessment though, Spectral is top notch and you are right the not knowing makes it even better! I am definitely going to keep it in mind going forward because I 100% do not want to spoil anything for anyone
I've book marked four, so thanks.
That’s awesome I hope you enjoy them! Your welcome 😁😁
Wow... I get criticised for loving movies that other people consider mediocre and flawed, but you really take the cake. I really liked the Cloverfield Paradox, but that is literally the only 1 of these I thought was any good.
Finally! Someone who likes the Cloverfield Paradox, so many people said they didn’t like that one but I actually thought it was cool with some awesome moments.
@@TheBingeList99 I also liked cloverfield lane, funnily enough didn't like the original "found footage" cloverfield, but love the spinoffs and wish they made many more.
The original, I didn’t hate it but definitely didn’t like it as much cause I didn’t think it had a solid enough payoff. But Cloverfield lane was cool, John Goodman makes it for me. His character is super creepy
I Am Mother and Bright could’ve replaced a few on the list.
I actually debated including both of these cause they are great movies as well. But I wanted to hold onto them because I have these in upcoming videos!
when you started the cloverfield paradox you stated that it came out in 2028.😄
😅 if I did that’s my bad lol
@@TheBingeList99 I thought i may have lost time LMAO.
@@southfloridadcl4770 I’d rather go back in time if we are traveling through time lol let me grab the lottery numbers first though
Spectral was awesome, I loved it. I think it borrowed heavily from final Fantasy - the Spirits Within. Stowaway I loved, such a throwback to the likes of sunshine, Moon, even 2001. A great movie.
I really like Spectral and it definitely (based on comments) seems to be an overall favorite. Stowaway has been a bit more debated, some really enjoying and others ehh lol I really like it, definitely makes you think. I also got hints of the Core in it and that’s another movie I really like.
Thanks for the list but ive already watched all of these flicks
Dang, I hope you enjoyed them! Hopefully I will have some you didn't see in the next video 😁😁
thanks!
You are welcome 😁 Glad you enjoyed!
That stowaway in Stowaway would've been headed out of that airlock. Sorry, not sorry.
I feel like that’s the conversation the movie is trying to invoke. I’m not saying I wouldn’t feel absolutely horrible but…
@@TheBingeList99 I watched it when it came out. The guy deserved to become space debris.
@salaciousBastard yeah like I said I would feel horrible but… I always felt like the explanation of how he got there was kind of weird. He got knocked out and everyone “forgot” he was in there even though he was in a sealed compartment.
1. Extinction is pretty good.
2. Project Power is okay.
3. The Cloverfield Paradox was surprisingly good.
4. Awake is okay, but a little dumb too.
5. Spectral is okay, but a bit over the top.
6. Stowaway....nope. It's a plot that has been overplayed in space sci-fi's to point, it is just boring. If you like dry space movies that deal with ethical questions, it might be for you, but as I said this plot has been played out in too many shows/movies that it is rather lackluster.
7. The Adam Project was good, but it felt more geared towards kids, except it was bit too gritty for kids, otherwise it would have been a really good family movie.
8. In the Shadow of the Moon is actually one of the better movies on this list. Definitely a top 3 and oddly, not well known. This could be a hidden gem for a lot of folks. It was really well done. It wasn't too obvious, but gave the viewer enough to start putting the pieces of the puzzle together if you really pay attention. I have to disagree with you on this one. The ending was perfect, if you really got into what was going on and kind of figured it out before reaching the end.
9. Don't Look Up doesn't belong on any top 10 sci-fi list. I'm sorry, but if you are in the mood for a corny comedy based on the way people are in reality, especially politicians, it's a good watch, but not as a sci-fi. Just as a corny comedy with a sci-fi element, but not really, since is based on plausible events.
10. Outside the Wire was another Netflix letdown. It had potential, but the story (as you pointed out) was not good and way too predictable. You already know where the ending is headed very early into the movie. The action sequences, like a lot of movies, just so over the top, it was kind of stupid.
Some that you missed that are Netflix originals and would probably fit on this list better than some
1. IO (the letters IO, not the number 10). This is surprisingly good.
2. How It Ends - more of apocalyptic plot, but very well done and well acted and not your typical ending. Definitely fits in the hidden gem category.
3. Midnight Sky - probably not Clooney's best work, but it is surprisingly good for Netflix.
4. I Am Mother - probably fits in the hidden gem category. While it is somewhat predictable, it is kind of compelling.
5. What Happened to Monday - This one is not for everyone, but if you like a dystopian plot with some intrigue and a twist this one entertains and stimulates the mind. (although if you pay close attention to the details, you kind of figure it out before you get to the twist). It was actually ranked by fans as the number 1 Netflix original sci-fi. I wouldn't go that far, but it is really good.
6. The Titan - is okay. It could have been good if it was a bit longer on the ending side of things. Not really intriguing, but it is slightly thought provoking, I guess. Think along the terms of Astronauts going through unorthodox training for an extended mission to save humanity.
Out of your list and his list combined I only like "Cloverfield Paradox" and "I am mother". Its weird because usually I am the one defending movies that other people say are bad.
Don't worry darling, Midsommar, Suspiria, and a cure for wellness spring to mind. Oh and Prometheus and Alien Covenant. These are movies people viciously hate and complain about but I love them.
It's interesting to be on the other side, I hate nearly all of these movies.
One thing I love about movies and tv series is there is the constant debate. Rarely do you find a movie that is unanimously loved or hated. And I said this to someone else but we can have different opinions and still be friends. We can discuss pros and cons. I do share your opinion, I really liked Prometheus, don’t worry Darla did some cool things and alien covenant and people love to tell me how they suck. But oh well, if I have fun watching it in any way, good character, great visuals, some cool moments, funny, emotional etc I usually can enjoy it and look past the negatives. Even if It might not be the best movie. there are very few movies I just totally dislike.
I debated all the movies you have on the others list here. I really like IO and What Happened to Monday. Titan I like but it didn’t seem like a lot of others enjoyed it so I did skip it. Dang peer pressure. I can’t include everything I want unfortunately since I am trying to keep the videos from being too long. I know my attention span lol so I try to keep it within a time that I would be able to watch.
It would be good to have time stamp tracker link next to the movie names
Thanks for the comment, but I am not 100% sure I understand what you are asking for? There are chapters on the videos? Let me know what you mean and I will see if its possible.
@@TheBingeList99 1:45 project power eg of what I wanted to explain . If you click on the numbers next to the movie name, it takes you to the timeline of the movie chapter
Maybe I am confused but in the video description I add those links next to each movie name. Are you looking for them somewhere else?
@@TheBingeList99 my bad, thanks for the clarification. I was looking for the links in the pinned list posted in the comments. In the future request you to update the list on comments section too.
It will be helpful, especially for people like me :)
I definitely can make that happen :) Thank you!!
I can't believe you left out Space Sweepers.
I honestly can’t say I have seen Space Sweepers. Can’t tell if you are being sarcastic or serious? Should I really check it out?
Absolutely check it out.
@@jeffreywillard7807 I definitely will, I’ll let you know what I think!
Bad script, bad characters, bad directing equals bomb
I would agree with this statement. Any particular movie or just a general statement?
@TheBingeList99 disney phase 4 and 5 thus far
@@projimbo phase 4 wasn’t the best, yeah, I felt like everything was just okay mostly because it felt like it always setting up the next thing and didn’t care much about itself, I did really enjoy Loki and Moon Knight. What were your highlights if any?
@@TheBingeList99 I realise I commented on teh wrong video - actually I really loved your top 10 sci fi and will be watching many in the comming weeks. Since we opened the topic (my mistake) - My highlight was really just Spiderman (all releases). I think marvel has lost all coherency under the weight of the multiverse and time travel (both horrendous plot devices which always leave so many holes). There are no real stakes any more. It was a plot device I think they hoped meant they could try out different versions of popular characters - or reskinning (I think) as Victoria Alonso called it - and bring back old characters as they needed to. CGI is now overused and seems to have replaced good script as a story device. Novice directors, lack of overall plot coherency, Rick and Morty script writing have resulted in very sub-par productions. I have been very disappointed and let down by Phase 4 and 5. I agree with the main points made in your video and I really think the best thing they could do now is close the multiverse quickly in an epic battle with an older and more powerful Kang variant and return to basics. There has been too much brand damage in 4 and 5 and it would be best to simply remove it using this means. Thanos snapped away the infinity stones, returning to that point and dissolving the time travel (which never works) and multiverse, as noted above, would give them a chance to reset - Thanos last snap could be the starting point for a new big bad - eg: Galactos - and a return to form. Otherwise I think too much damage has been done to the marvel universe to continue along the current trajectory.
@@projimbo first I am glad you enjoyed the list! I hope you enjoy the ones you’re gonna watch. 2nd ,I think you’re right on a lot of fronts. The MCU found a way to sell more toys and merch with multiverse and time travel plot devices (just like the comics) but didn’t execute it really well. I dont know if you’re a comic reader but it’s happened in the comics before where it essentially just needed a full reboot. Cause the 88th version of the same character just lost all consequence. Are there some highlights and good performances sure but as a whole it’s not been what it was. Would love to see them close this Kang saga off strong if at all salvageable. But hopefully if they do go to Galactus they do it right finally.
Michael Pena was not stiff and unemotional he was a typical engineer.
lol maybe I was looking at it all wrong. I like him a lot, he is a really good actor so maybe I don’t know enough engineers. I am going to go out on a limb and say A. You are an engineer or B. Know one very well to make this very accurate assessment😂😂
He was playing a (spoiler alert) I-phone, so needed to be emotionally detached, so to speak.
@@chuckbisbee7520 yeah you definitely understand as the movie moves forward
i think im now the old guy get off my lawn person, [ thats probably even dated, lol ] none of these movies with the exception of look up in my opinion were better then 5 out 10s. I think 30 years of watching so many movies i guess ive seen every story told already and most of these are retreads. Which means i would of probably LOVED THEM!! 20-30 years ago when everything was new.
While that being said, i dont hate everything.... I loved the Expanse series and anything that Christopher Nolan puts out, along with the re-boot of Mad Max.
Haha I love your honest take 🤣😆I swear I heard a quote that said every story has already been told. But hopefully I can find some alternatives in my next videos that rank higher than a 5 for you! Also, love the Expanse, I highlight that in my Prime Video series list. Was so sad when it wrapped up, and I mean Nolan movies are phenomenal. As a super hero fanatic, I am biased when I say The Dark Knight is my favorite, mostly because of Ledgers Joker but overall great movie. With a soft spot for Memento. What is your favorite? If you don't want to share I will get off your lawn 😁🤣😂😆
@@TheBingeList99 Bwhahaahahah!!!! Get off my lawn, lol Dark night is my favorite of the trilogy but for me with Nolan its like ranking your children, i love them all but probably Inception.
The poor ratings by me should be taken with giant grain of salt, Ive just simply watched tooo many movies and series, especially fantasy/Sci-fi, Im the same with Sci-fi/Fantasy book series, so many tropey series that when im done readin im like " ive read this plot like 1/2 a dozen times already
Hahah yeah I agree, that man is a national treasure
I get it, it’s all good. And not every movie and series is for everyone so I don’t take any negative if someone doesn’t like my recommendations. We can still be friends 😁😁
Did not see 9 of 10!
And somehow did not want to see them. ;-)
All good but I hope you enjoyed the 1 😁
Good picks, but you should not speak so fast:)
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed the picks! And I appreciate the insight! That’s actually what my parents said too, I have been trying to figure a way out to balance the length of the video and making sure to get all the information in. And I naturally talk fast lol but I promise it is something I am working on!! 😁😁
I thought it was my YT settings were on 2x speed . LOL
😂😂 I will definitely work on it!
all good EXCEPT, outside the wire. really bad.
Im glad you enjoyed most! But understand that opinion of Outside the Wire lol I tried to be clear with the expectations for that one saying how the story was very ehhh at best. I was skeptical putting it on here because I knew that but I felt like the action and the effects were still worth a watch.
don’t look up
A good pick! 😁
I hate Anthony Mackie. He ruined Altered Carbon with his performance.
I don’t know if I’d go all the way to hate because I enjoy his performances in most things but I do agree that season 2 was a mega let down. Kinnaman kills it in season 1 and I really loved that show, couldn’t wait for more and then yeah it wasn’t even close to the same.
Yeah, that first season was one of the best sci fi shows ever. The second series felt unimaginative by comparison and Mackie was just his standard boy Robin 😂
@geofthompson3844 we can all share in our disappointment with that second season lol
the first season was so so, re-writing the book not the best move to be honest.
@quercus3290 I’ll be honest I didn’t read it so hard for me to make a judgement there but my wife reads a lot of books to movies we watch and says a lot of it is the character perspective and thoughts etc. Similar to that? Or were there massive changes to narrative?
Cloverfield Paradox was trash.
This definitely seems like the most disputed one on this list, which ones did you enjoy?
@@TheBingeList99I enjoyed everything except Cloverfield and Stowaway, plus Don't Look Up, which I never saw.I
I’m glad I hit on a few! Don’t look up is definitely the least Sci fi of all of these but I do think it’s a good funny/satirical movie that has some Sci fi aspects in it. Plus Leo and Lawrence are great actors in these somewhat unique roles.
@@TheBingeList99 Yeah. I might give it a try. It just didn't really seem like my cup of tea. Fantastic actors though.
@salaciousBastard if you do check it out let me know what you think! And if it’s not for you totally get it
Spectral was the only one that actually looked remotely interesting but turned out to be one of the most stupid movies i ever seen. Don't watch Netflix, it is garbage.
Dang I really enjoyed Spectral, I’m sorry you didn’t like these! What is your go to streaming service if not Netflix?
