I do really wish that clean beauty actually meant companies were focused on environmental impact/sustainability but it seems like the vast majority of them it’s just about vilifying ‘chemicals’. It seems to be way more about marketing than about pushing the industry to be more climate conscious or sustainable or ethical and that frustrates me. Because when companies go on and on about crueltyfree the fact of the matter is they are in more countries legally bound to not test on animals. However they never discuss the impact on humans with regard to cruelty free with ingredients like mica which has historically been extracted by underpaid/over worked people in the global south, many of whom are children. So yeah I just wish the industry was actually about being better instead of just shaming people into thinking things are full of like formaldehyde or whatever and that they have to use ‘clean beauty’ to protect themselves
YES! THANK YOU! Ignoring/not considering cruelty to humans is exactly why I think the "cruelty-free" moniker is bollocks. And if you extend that to include food, land (for those of us non-Indigenous people in the Americas, Australia, and NZ), clothing, personal care products, etc., it becomes even more apparent that it's BS.
"Clean beauty " is nothing more than a marketing tool👍😅
Or the environmental impact they have on animals. It’s not cruelty free if your ingredients lead to the death of whole populations of animals due to accessing ingredients.

I love Bleach London haircare because they make formulas that work (even with dreaded!! chemicals!!) and that are affordable but they always choose sustainable practices and packaging choices... I wish there was something like this for makeup and skincare, I hate having to choose sub-par or irritating formulas (essential oils fgs) in order to choose more responsible packaging :( but there are some good bits here to be fair

I just wanted to say that Chanel actually expanded their shade range on their cream bronzer but I checked and it's just ONE EXTRA (deep) SHADE 😂

That Ilia eyeshadow palette is my everyday palette, I love it. I keep things simple and that palette has everything I need plus I actually get use out of all the shades.

Love the clean beauty videos - I have switched my entire makeup bag over to merit, WA and VBB. I would love to see you dive into the clean skincare realm and let us know what it up there. I am having a harder time finding clean skincare that is also effective.
Theres an amazing brand called Oskia London.. and also I'm looking into one called Elina Organics... their products are science based but very clean and organic.. hope this helps! I was in the same boat as you.. trying to find super effective clean skincare. You might also research the website called LovelySkin and check another site called Dermstore for dermatologist formulations!

Great look! But really, can we all just admit that "Clean Beauty" is a marketing gimmick??? It can mean 1 million things!! Instead, let's just settle on actually researching company's owners and their ethics and values that trickle down into their treatment of employees, and then into the product. Be smart with who you support with your dollar$.
Agree to disagree. If it appears to be a gimmick to you, I thinks that's totally fine, but I don't think you should diminish the efforts people are making to live a more "clean sustainable" life.
@@jordantfk it is a gimmick though…and has been proven to be such. there is nothing wrong with wanting to live more sustainably, but do the research so that what you’re living by actually makes sense

@@krystalvalentine5691 It’s not proven to be a gimmick. Do you really want PTFE (aka Teflon) in your makeup? There was a news report on ingredients for “long lasting” cosmetics not regulated by the FDA that have proven to enter our blood stream. They don’t know what the long term affects on our health is. But there are quite a number of ingredients banned in Japan and Europe that are known hormone disrupters that aren’t banned in the US. Yeah, do your research. Also look up PEGs. Notice that some brands will have a warning not to apply to wounds (like a blemish for instance). PEGs under 100 allow products to absorb into the skin. It is common in foundations.

Here for the clean beauty looks since that’s all I use. You should definitely try the Saie mascara, it’s great! I’m not a huge fan of the lip/eyeshadow combo, but you still look beautiful!
