  • Can I beat a Pokemon Hardcore Nuzlocke challenge in Fire Red and Leaf Green using only Fighting types? Well, it's a short question, but with a long answer, get some popcorn and a beverage and hope you enjoy.
    Rules of the challenge:
    Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
    1. Fainting = Death
    2. Can only catch the Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause)
    3. Nickname Pokémon
    Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
    4. No items in battle (held items okay)
    5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
    6. Play on "Set" battle mode

      Could have also simply been a higher damage roll. Each attack in pokemon has 16 different values for how much damage is dealt, minimum 85% power to maximum 100% power. The first mega punch could have rolled a lower value (46 damage) , while the second one rolled higher (64 damage)

    So, I'm writting this on behalf of my friend who's apparently too lazy to write a comment on YT. Generally what he told me is that he highly suspects this video to be on playback with RNG manipulation. He backs it up by saying how weird it was for him to open up L/R menu-thingy (which, to be honest, nobody ever opens in normal gameplay) as well as him making many, many unnecessary back-and-forth moves over pokemon moves menu. There might've been more things but he didn't want to continue the topic (as he doesn't care about this all). You might or might not believe me and tbh I don't mind that. I just wanted to let you know so that you can look for yourself and see if it's true. On one hand it's not like it's forbidden to do RNG manip, but imo if you do it you should say so at the start.
    Couple of disclaimers:
    - I didn't watch the video nor will I
    - I've never heard of this channel before nor had any interaction with meatball prior to this comment
    - I'm not too keen on responding to this comment as it was supposed to be informational only

    Poliwrath - a fighting type with no fighting move on board ;p Not that it's a requirement, just looks a bit strange
    Also, the run would be much smoother if you decided to evolve your Machoke (there is no ban on trade evos in nuzlockes). Still, it was imrpessive you've made it through given the unfavourable odds.

  • @emanuelgottig9068
    @emanuelgottig9068 Před 2 lety

    I did this same run in Ultra Violet sans nuzlocke. The biggest changes that hack brings are the ability of catching a lv5 Machop rather than pick a starter (your rival still picks Charmander), having trade evolutions mons like Machoke evolve at lv48 instead, getting both Hitmons in Saffron and, most egregiously, changing Gyarados to Water/Dragon, which I did not account for lol. No Phy/Spe split or anything extra either, so the abilities are garbage as well.
    The final Elite 4 team was pretty much the same: for coverage Machamp with Rock Slide, Hitmonlee with Strength/Earthquake, Primeape with Aerial Ace/Overheat/Thunderbolt (it has decent Sp.Atk btw), Poliwrath exactly as yours, and Hitmonchan with Sky Upper/Mach, Ice and Thunder Punches. All around level 60.
    I can tell you for a fact that your Machoke would've died to that final Fire Blast because at 60 it took 3/4s of my Machamp's health, the whole line just has abysmal Sp.Def. Also Hitmonchan was basically useless, with the exception of Dragonite and Ice Punch he did more damage using Sky Uppercut than using a super effective elemental punch, even after I EV trained him. I thought he would at least fare well against Gyarados but nope, Water/Dragon in this hack.
    Still a good run tbh, I love fighting types even tho they're garbage in Kanto lol.

    I actually do fighting nuzlockes all the time solely because i think the fighting types look the coolest....Gen 1 is prolly the hardest to do, why? Sabrina (/Agatha) largely, its a bit more balanced by gen 3 but i member going against Sabrina in gen 1 and getting completely 1 hitted except for Hitmonlee who was faster and crit worked off speed in gen 1.

      for what its worth my team was Hitmonlee, Primeape, Machoke, Poliwrath and Charizard cus there is no fighting starter in gen 1 but fire becomes the closest in later gens + plus a nice HM slave (fly alone is worth it for convenience)

      @martinpiekarski1512 Před 2 lety

      Yeah, it's interesting because poison is a worse type than fighting overall... (it was especially shitty before gen 6 and Fairy type). But there is whole lot more poison types in 1st gen than the fighting ones, including all those grass type mixes which allow you for all sort of status f**k-ups ;p Also, Nidoking is very much broken in 1st gen.
