I actually needed this today. I sometimes feel like im the only one constantly struggling with injuries (new and old) and its so demoralizing. I think im made of glass.
This gives me the motivation to work through it and not wallow in my own self pity.

Craig, I met you and Jas at Strength in Depth last year, you liked my Jordan 4s... in January I hit lifetime PBs in deadlift, backsquat and bench. I was completely in the zone and everything felt great. Literally the next week, I pulled my back in work doing something so simple I refused to accept I was injured for about a week. Since the 3rd week of January I haven't been able to even squat an empty bar. Things don't always go our way but you are the biggest advocate of WDQ!! Please don't be so hard on yourself dude. You are an inspiration and one of the reasons I have been showing up in the gym everyday, stretching, doing my mobility, and trusting the process. You know what you are capable of, and We Don't Quit. After every dark cloud... big things coming for you this year 💪🏋️‍♂️

Even the most grand of stairways have a landing.
"An intermediate landing is a small platform that is built as part of stairs between main floor levels and is typically used to allow the stairs to change directions, or to allow the user a rest."
Imagine this week, is a small landing with a bench seat, a potted plant and a nice view out the window.
Take the rest, turn around and continue to the top of where you want to be.

I totally feel this frustration with injuries, but think you hit the nail on the head when you said it’s part of the process of becoming the strongest version of you and smashing some damn big goals that you’ve set yourself! Doesn’t make it any less frustrating and disappointing when they come about and feel like they stall your progress, but the rehab you do will only bring you back stronger in the long run. You’ve got this, you’re still turning up and doing the thing. And it will get better!

I understand the topic of injuries and even being in a mental slump. I’m 60 and fit. I have been dedicated to fitness for 40+ years and the injuries add up. Most of my injuries are from (car and motorcycle) accidents outside the gym but being in the gym can aggravate them. It sucks, I always miss the gym atmosphere when I’m out and my addiction to the endorphin rush takes a hit and that messes with me mentally.
I still live by my mantra of it’s not about how often you’re getting knocked down…..it’s about how quickly you get back up. I hope to never lose that drive.

Obviously, this is the case in most other sports too, but weightlifting puts you in particularly deep lows and especially high highs. This is why we love the sport in the first place, but also why it is so difficult to get more people train as weightlifters.

don't load the patella for 36-48 hrs after heavy squats, jumping, running, jerks, oly, etc. (basically 2 nights).
isometrics will only help in the pain department and won't hurt, e.g. easy wall sits.
if you still feel the patella after 36-48hrs rest, you could reduce the jumping in the particular training session, e.g. muscle snatch instead of power snatch (only the 1st pull has some patella load).
if load the patella on purpose, do 2020 or 3030 squats at 70-75% with very long time under tension (never pause, never lockout hips at the top, aim for 60s time under tension).
you could also check you enviroment, e.g. don't run around barefoot at home, always wear marshmallow running shoes.
