‘Portals’ is an 11-track collaborative album that sees the pair take their drum ‘n’ bass sound in a more experimental direction.
It was recorded during a month long stint at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios, and features hit singles ‘Just Hold On’, ‘Illuminate’ and ‘Air I Breathe’ on the tracklist.
Speaking about the location for Wednesday’s stream, Sub Focus and Wilkinson said: “The cinematic and expansive backdrop felt like the perfect physical representation of the album."

I love this type of DnB mixing: Not a new track mixed in every 30 seconds & constant double/triple drops, but just flawless mixing and sometimes just let tracks ride for 2/3 minutes.

It takes a bit more to give me chills these days but the lead in at 38:00 made me tingle from head to toe. Anyone who says music only serves to make us feel good is dead wrong. At the time i wasn't too keen on Portals. I still thought it was alright, but I wanted the whole album to be like Illuminate. Now I realize the album is a masterpiece and this Corfe Castle set is perfection, I've listened to it more times then I can count. Unmatched vibes, It has aged so well 👌

My obsession started way back in the early 80's. Brave New Waves on CBC radio in Canada, late night over night. My little radio under my pillow so my mom wouldn't know I was still awake. Now I find myself, low side of 50 years old and everyday I find more new music to love. From the early years of Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson thru to Orbital and Daft Punk, and on thru todays artists it is a journey I love and remember, I wish you all could have come along. Simply put, from my days in the early 90's and the banging Detroit factory raves, Peace Love Unity Respect. One love.
