I played a little different as a kid. We would all get secret numbers. There would also be a few ghost numbers that nobody had, so if there were 12 players we may do 1 to 14 or 15. The person in the middle would then throw the ball and yell the number. You'd get a letter by being hit by the ball, throwing the ball and failing to hit anyone, or calling one of the ghost numbers

I play this in a way where I toss the ball in the air and yell the number for every turn. The student who’s number I call grabs the ball and yell spud telling the other students to stop. The student with the ball then throws it at another student and if they get hit once they get an S. If a student get hit 4 times they now have a S.P.U.D and they are now out

Confused. After taking the four steps, spelling S.P.U.D., the student throws the ball at/to someone and it doesn't matter whether they are hit or catch it? But then the first student can throw the ball in the air and call out another number? What's the point of throwing the ball at/to someone? Thanks!

+Adam B. Could play it where if the player is hit, that player will then throw the ball in the air and call a new number. Not really sure, played this game only once or twice quite awhile ago so can't really remember...sorry (lots of better games out there anyways).

I tried this game with 1st and 2nd grade and it did not work well. I would not recommend this game.
