The use of the feldgrau special clothing for armor crews is interesting. My father in law was Panzerfahrer in 2. Kp Fuehrer-Begleit Btl, they were also issued the feldgrau Panzer uniforms with white piped collar tabs and GD shoulder boards, cuff title and Fuehrer-Hauptquartier cuff title. After he was wounded on the Ostfront he spent some weeks on light duty pulling guard on the outer perimeter at the Wolf's Lair Wolfschanze, the 1. LSSAH patrolled the inner perimeter.
Lehr, they were completely overwhelmed by allied air support during 1944 - 1945, the Luftwaffe couldn’t cover them at all

@@KokenyRichardno they were by no means freedom fighters they committed numerous Atrocities on the Eastern front and various other fronts and wiping out millions of Jews does not make you a freedom fighter.
Great film. Great commentary.
Tough soldiers.
Thank you for these brilliant videos 😊
The injuries and enduring of bombs on both sides were devastating and the having to go back out after being wounded and enduring the healing and having to go on after being severely wounded is a testament in its own. I have been severely wounded twice and I know personally what it is like having to try and operate like a good soldier that has never been wounded. Your never the same and your body is never the same either. Having to grind on wounded, healed to a certain extent, and back out into the fighting is only harder and more grueling than the first or second time. The only thing that makes you any better or safer is the experience you gain by seeing combat and having some experience with what is coming and what might or is going to happen is your only advantage over those who are new or doesn't have much combat experience. God bless you all and enjoy your evening and I hope you have a great weekend.
Absolutely love this channel, let’s all boost for the Algorithm!!
Just amazing
PZ Lehr were placed in a critical 'Hinge point ' Between the American and British Armies and were supposed to be the Anvil upon which the Allies would Blunt their Attacks They were repeatedly thrown into the line and were ground down by Carpet Bombing and Heavy Artillery Strikes from the 16 and 15 inch Guns on the Battleships off the French Coast of Normandy
Another top notch documentary with fresh content

Will we be getting a doc on the herman goring division
Love these unbiased and very in-depth vids covering the other side, it gets SO tiring hearing and seeing the extreme over dramatized stuff from the allied point of view. Keep up the good work. 👍
Always love your videos. Thanks for telling their story!

Ty for uploading this
Outstanding video!
Absolutely brilliant loved it cheers
Great videos
Thank You!!
Great video. Regardless what your opinion is, these men fought bravely without any air or artillery support and yet still gave their all
Minute 9: ´despite Allied air-superiority´: the Germans on the ground had a joke about that: ¨If you see a silver airplane, that's an American. If you see a brown one, it´s British. And if you don't see any at all, that's one of ours.¨
Thank you!!
excellent work
excellent video
Great video. Unbiassed and factual. Keep it up.
Amazing work
When I was with the 5/33rd Armor in the 194th Armored Brigade in the early 80s.. When we saluted our officers we said "Men of War Sir"... and they responded with Panzer Lehr. In the history of the 33rd, Panzer Lehr was the toughest and hardest they had to face. It was to honor both. That is at least what we had been told, nor I have been able to find out more about this.
A most remarkable formation ever created in modern war. A symbol of German military prowwss . Tribute to Gwrman race. Maj gen IA
Lehr fought like absolute mad dogs during the end against the Americans
The unit's formation was an act of desperation. It was destroyed several times over. Good video though, thanks!

Hi, I would like to know why you deleted the "Footage" about the Viking division?
My American Dad was a Commander of a Sherman Tank at the time, he always told me, don’t believe Hollywood Propaganda, we where lousy fighters, they Air Force won the War, I will never forget him, because he told the truth 🤷♀️
Interesting, I don't think any of the main bulk of them were lousy, the Americans were still brilliant fighters and always will be 🤝
You are a liar! That story sounds totally fabricated. The Germans always had an excuse for defeat. It's either Hitler, Allied numerical superiority or airpower. Why couldn't the Luftwaffe with superior German engineering defeat the Allied air forces?
@@tekis0 He was there to witness a tiny potion of what happened, and he had a wrong-headed viewpoint. If the allies never had to put men on the ground they wouldn't have, they sure as hell didn't want to. They had to.
Air power had serious limitations; a study showed that ninety percent of bombs dropped on german targets fell more than five miles away from the intended location.
All respect to the gentleman for his service, but he was wrong about this.
Roman salutes all around boys.
No matter what the world says about the Germans, many of the none Nazi German soldier fought with bravery and valour and should be respected as such. No more. No less..
Indeed they did.
George Patton once said...
"We defeated the wrong enemy"
The sad part and probably a tragic ending to a formidable unit was it was stripped of most of its equipment in 1944 to be given 2 Pz. div. which was subsequently lost by stupid decisions.
Bass-Tone sir, I was a member of one of the battalions of the 101st that faught in Bastogne. I was a member much later of course. The unit is not active anymore but it was 1-377 FAR. Have to nail the names sir.
Great
I always thought the Russians fought against the elite German divisions - this video definitely makes me think twice about that conclusion.
There was also the 9th SS, 10th SS, 2nd SS, 1st SS, 12th SS and the 21st Panzer division in Normandy. Alongside the Panzer lehr, it was the most formidable concentration of German armour in a small area of front.
@@alexmuller1680 True, in total there was around 7-8 armoured units, and also a further 3 Heavy Panzer battalions and two Nebel Werfer brigades.
If anything, the bulk of "elite" German divisions were arrayed and against and destroyed by the Western Allies. The only other "elite" divisions that escaped the Western Allies' wrath were 3rd SS Totenkopf, 5th SS Wiking and Grossdeustchland. "Elite" German divisions had more success against the Soviets, but stood no chance against the Western Allies.
@@user-ys3wf7bl4k Yes, although to be fair Army Group Centre which they destroyed in Bagration was probably one of the best German army groups.
Yessss
When you send your trainers to the front you know they will do well but it does show your have ultimately lost as who will replace them?

The USSR would have collapsed without the Lend-Lease Act and help from Britain (intelligence).
Loss of food would have sealed the fate of the soviets (unless helped by foreign powers fighting for communism)
The soviets got enough food from the USA to feed its soldiers for the rest of the war,
12 million boots , 60 percent aluminum and steel, a lot of tin , 90 percent of railway equipment ( the soviets would never have been able to conduct offensives so fast and transfer their main armies to critical points , 300000 trucks were given , 65 percent of aviation fuel and much more apart from 15 percent tanks ,aircrafts
Soviet sympathizers say "only 15 per cent was given to USSR"
The biggest help the Russkies got was the 33k trucks supplied to the Red Army under Lend Lease by the Yanks.
Made the Red Army extremely mobile in their push towards the Reich.
@@richardscanlan3419Dont forget the millions of dollars, technologies and help in building their arms factories...
@@tekis0 for sure.
But,my point is those trucks gave the Red Army a mobility the Germans never possessed. This enabled the Russians the ability to counter the Germans on every part of the front with a speed that made the German blitzkreig look amateurish by comparison.
And,yeah, your point about technologies etc is relevant.
An example would be the katyusha rockets, which were actually an American invention gifted to the Russians.
@@tekis0dont forget Red Army had the biggest army in WW2 how could Germany defeat such force
@@JDDC-tq7qm with extreme difficulty.

How to decimate one of your most experienced panzer formations in a matter of months, if not weeks.
There just wasnt enought panzer divisions in battle
The Germans committed 7-8 Panzer divisions and 3 Heavy Panzer battalions to Normandy, that's more tanks than the Germans had in Operation Bagration.
@@Bullet-Tooth-Tony- not true. Many divisions were not near Normandy. Many were on the russian front, Italy.

Great documentary, Would be really nice if you learned the pronunciation of the names or titles, It's really distracting.. Like Teufel is spelled like toifel not truffles xD
Very well done and put together. For some reason even the German names invoke fear, for example the SS, the Panzer Lehr, the Gestapo.
What a waste of young guys, if only they had a great statesman as a leader.
Pz Lehr was supposed to have it's own organic Fkl Kompanie but this never happenned and so in it's place Pz Kompanie(Fkl) 316 was tactically attached in September 1943. In January 1944 the Kompanie received orders to re-equip with Tiger IIs, which were delivered in early March 1944, at the same time in January it became the 1.schwere Panzer-Kompanie (Fkl) of the Pz Lehr division. It would stay this way untill the 22nd June 1944 when the Panzer Lehr received orders to detach the Fkl Kompanie with the Kompanie being redesignated as the 1./Panzer Abteilung (Fkl) 302. After being detached the Kompanie was sent to Reims to join Panzer Abteilung (Fkl) 302.
Both the Fuhrervortrag and Waffen amt delivery documents clearly show that they were intended for and delivered to the Pz Lehr division.
It should also be pointed out that the Pz Lehr only had 3 Tiger I's and not 8. The Tiger II's were mechanically unreliable and didn't see action with the Pz Lehr in Normandy, 1.schwere Panzer-Kompanie (Fkl would go into action with the 3 Tiger I's and 9 StuG III. Also the I./Pz.Regt.130 didn't serve in Normandy with the division as it was still in training, in it's place the I./Pz.Regt 6 was assigned to the division as it's Panther Abteilung.

Hereos.
And some idiot waited around wirh his thumb up his butt, then ordered the Pz Lehr to move during daylight under total Allied Air Superiority.
Why does the AI voice say something correctly then say it incorrectly later? Examples being
German (said it weirdly only a couple times) and Bastogne (the “gne” as if it were Italian)?
Okay, an "elite" German division that got itself blown to bits in the Bocage, couldn't get past French partizans to defend Paris, got its ass kicked at the Battle of the Bulge, and eventually got bagged in the Ruhr Pocket. Outstanding!

Not to devalue the German fighters courage and sacrifice, but weren’t the soldiers on Pervitin ? (Meth)
They had the possibility to be so, which would make them even more energitic and fearless. So in that way, I guess you can say thar they had an advantage.
Yea but it was not crystal meth it was pure amphetamine but they didn’t see it as a drug or they didn’t sit around and smoke it they had panzer chocolate, so in a way it’s like a super coffee that everyone else is on too that’d be fun as hell
