Well god damn, finally a video that’s precise and easy to understand. Easier than the whole zig zagging crap.

OH WOW!! I am so happy I found this video! I am a beginner knapper (just a couple of months) And had so much trouble with islands in the middle of my obsidian slabbed preforms, you explained it so that even I could understand it. Also, I had such trouble getting the side flakes to work right without crunching and hinging but how you showed to grind that angle after the first pass is just what I needed. Granted, I cheated and used my cabbing machine to do the grinding, lol. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Thank You, Keith, for the video. Been knapping a ton of obsidian preforms but have had a problem getting good, uniform flakes. Saw where I've been going wrong watching your video and will try it on my next point. I've been trying to flake too much off at once. Never occurred to me to grind the edges after the first pass, either, so no wonder my second passes looked so bad. You are a great teacher! Hoping to have my points look like yours, soon!

"And when somebody tells you to do something, the correct answer isn't 'Get lost', the correct answer is 'Thank you for teaching me something different...'"
But I thought the correct answer was "Fuck you, Keith. Don't tell me what to do." LOL
In all seriousness though, very good info here. Thanks for that.

I cant believe i just found your vids but im glad i did you are a gifted teacher sir and we look forward to binging on your vids and living our knapping dreams vicariously through you.
I have to ask and waste your time sir but we are recovering from a total loss uninsured fire and most all materials and tools are a loss. My 14 year old girl has been knapping with me for 5 years now. Is there a classifieds type market on materials and maybe used tools? Every penny is being pinched right now but i dont want my girls interest to be lost due to me. She loves the slabs/preforms you use for knives etc. Where can i find those and how costly are they. Weve got a few hammerstones one crappy flaker and an antique soldering iron bopper but materials are lean now and for a while so any direction you can point me is soooo appreciated sir. Keep doing your thing man we love you

Hi Michael, toilet tanks, beer bottle bottoms, and native stone are all free sources that are easy to find. Once you make and sell a few, buy a good quality pressure flaker. It will up your game substantially, and you'll make better points. Sell a few of those and buy an abraider, a leather pad, and higher quality stone.
Start at the bottom and there's no where to go but up my friend!!!

Hahaha! Yeah, there's some real d-canoes who like to spend their time harassing other people. I guess they blame my success for their failure, and as long as they feel they can do that, then they don't have to grow up.
Welcome to flint knapping! If you need any help, message me and I'll do what I can to help!
