Thanks for the kind words, Gents. We're quite proud of our Cask Strength and just started submitting it for awards. It recently received a Double Gold from The Fifty Best and a Silver from the NY International Spirit Competition. We hope your followers will come pay us a visit next time they are in the Litchfield area. Cheers!
Just bought a bottle of your cask strength bourbon over the holidays while I was down in CT. Instantly in my top list of bourbons now! I get a heavy caramel apple flavor.
If i see any near north Louisiana ill give it a try, im becoming a fan of cask strength or barrel proof whiskeys, and i trust these guys opinions, sounds like they liked it haha
Canada needs to loosen up on distribution and shipping laws I want to try it so bad it looked beautiful and salivating hearing thoose descriptive notes!
So happy for Litchfield to get this great review! I have not yet made it there but hope to come out soon. As my own October birthday gift, I bought 7 bottles today from Scotland to Japan, selected based on recommendations such as this CZcams. Manchester Total Wine and More, Jeffrey recommended the last bottle they had of your Select Port Cask, so I am now a proud owner. Unopened, I do believe Santa will be wrapping that for me for 12/25!!
Michigander here. Traverse City is, in fact, at the end of the ring finger of the Mitten that is Michigan. Glad to hear you liked TC's stuff! Michigan may not be a "hotbed of whiskey making," but it is a hot bed of craft breweries, wineries, and now distilleries, and it is definitely worth the trip! Just, in the summer, unless Rex wants to see snow (a LOT of it). Cheers to Rex being better traveled!
Thanks to you guys, I now smell everything I drink, every time I take a sip of it. From Vodka Screwdrivers to Monster energy drinks I always sniff my drinks...
Yay! Traverse City Bourbon!! If you guys think that is flowers, their rye is somewhat of a unicorn. Lot of flowers, eucalyptus, cherry blossoms, and a unique rye spice, it's damn good! Hope you guys get to try some more Michigan whiskey. I love our selection up here!
Hey I literally just did a live video on Instagram tasting the barrel proof rye from traverse city and I'm a huge fan! Traverse City is on a good track and sourced stuff is good! Love these donation days! Cheers gents, drinking along! Also that new intro is awesome!
@@coreyclark6505 I've not had the old George stuff before! That's interesting because I've had northern latitudes and this stuff is much better in my opinion
I’ve been doing Bourbons all month and one thing it has taught me is they aren’t as monolithic as critics claim. There is a lot more variety and nuance between producers and bottles.
Not surprised a lot of Lehrer fans are MBs. I discovered him in 1974 at a friend's house while looking through a stack of his dad's dusty old LPs. Num num.
Just getting into whiskey/bourbon and really love your channel. Made it a mission to buy some of the spirits you guys review and learn as much as possible. Thanks for a great channel
I think a really cool thing you could keep around the distillery for visitors would be a few bottles of one thing proofed down to a couple different levels. So if you get someone in who is not up for cask strength, you can say "okay, here's something we bottled at 40%". Then if they like it you can say "Want to see what happens when we turn that up to 45%?" then maybe 50% and cask strength. It would be a cool way to see where some people land with a preferred proof...like slowly watering down the cask strength stuff, but in reverse so you build your palate up to it.
The wonderful thing about whiskey is..... Whiskey a wonderful thing.... My nose is oh so floral and my legs taste like spring! Keep the great vids coming guys; these are really helping me figure out what I'm looking for my very first bottle purchase... Any personal favorite 30~40 dollar range intro whiskeys? I was thinking Elijah Craig 12 because it seems to have the flavors I tend to like the most.
Hi, I just recently bought my first bottle of bourbon. I went for Wild Turkey 81 proof (not the 101). I think it's very approachable, especially since it's not as strong as other bourbon's out there. Still a nice bourbon to enjoy. Cheers!
Must have missed this when it first aired. Somebody makes whiskey in New Jersey?? Holy crap. Being a Teaneck native, I believe I need to find a bottle. Anybody know if it's sold in Chicago?
Guys! Guys! Yahara bay is less than 3 miles from my place! It was one of the first bottles I ever bought. I thought it would be terrible at the first glass. I ignored it for a few months, came back, and found a whole new bottle and loved it! I purposely leave the top off for the first few glasses and it's one of my favorites! When you guys come back to that bottle later, you're going to have a new animal.
Hello. I've been watching for a while now and I gotta say one of my favorite channels. Have never commented on a video. I learn more and more every time I watch. Instead of just sticking to kraken rum or Jager I will go and grab a random whiskey and try the different way of drinking you suggest. So thank you hobbit and mooch for my whiskey adventures!
Hi Daniel and Rex! Have you ever tried the Woodford Reserve Master Class Maple Wood Finish? Truly one of the best bourbons ever! It came out in 2010 and I'm on a mission to find a bottle now (fruitless though it may be). It is aged in the normal white oak casks and then placed in maple wood casks for a finishing period. The Cherry Wood Smoked Barley vintage that was released by Woodford this year is also great, it's a bourbon with a Scotch influence. The mash-bill is 70% corn and 30% malted barley. The barley was smoked with cherry wood during the kilning process. Definitely a bourbon that fans of single malts would enjoy!
Yes, Daniel actually hugged me at the distillery launch party when I told him I brought a bottle of Dark Cove Committee Release for him. lol I also brought a bottle of the Traverse City but the Barrel Proof version, it doesn't need its own review vs. the regular but it unlocks some really good flavors for any that get a chance to try it.
I just got a bottle of Litchfield Cask Strength. That is some interesting stuff! The initial taste of the tongue was citrusy and floral but immediately changed to more expected notes.
This channel has become my favorite one! By the way, I've read somewhere that drinking a good whisky combined with dark chocolate (80% or more) it's a great experience. Is that true? Thanks, guys!

My 10+ years dry phase ended and im back on whisky...and it is GLORIOUS!
