As a S/Yorks mineworker I spent a year on strike in '84. Looking back now it's easy to see we were all pawns in a huge political game. The govt used classic divide & rule tactics. Miner turned against miner when we should have all been united in a common cause. I'm proud to have stood up for what I believed in, I don't have hatred for Notts miners or the deputies who could have stopped all pits. But the tories & thatcher, I'll hate them til the day I die.

9:28 Building gas power stations to bring competition… there’s absolutely no competition when the alternatives close down leaving behind a monopoly that can do what it wants (including price hikes). It’s the exact same as big supermarket chains that have killed off all the small family owned shops on the high street.
These tories weren’t about competition but only interested in the transfer of wealth, making their rich even richer. The tories and their donors would have been major shareholders in the the gas industry and want to crush the working class and trade unions.
