Here in Poland, carp is one of the most expensive fish. Eating carp is a tradition in Poland, especially during Christmas.
In Romania as well
Don't worry about the bait exploding when it hits the water. As you explained, all the bait will sink around the hook and it will look more natural. If you can cast it around the same area, after a few casts, you should have lots of fish on that general area.
LOVE THE CATCH AND COOK VIDS!! #moreplease
Catching toothpicks, that's a first. Wonderful.
Nicely done Tom! You’re making me hungry. I’ve been catching a lot of Commons here in KC. Not a single mirror yet this summer. I can’t wait to see your next vid.😎👍
No mirrors yet for me this year either. Good luck!
Bite has def slowed down here in kc but we're still catching some.
My grandparents generation used to eat carp every week. It was a normal thing to come home to a fish in the bathtub to be prepared for Friday night
Ha, that's interesting. Reminds me of my Grandpa who would trap snapping turtles for eating.
Going to have to give carp a try this year, watch a lot of videos cooking carp and your way looks the easily way to me. Common sense I like that about you. Thanks
It's been fun experimenting with eating carp. I think that might be the last one for this season.
Good job, wish more people would try it.
Thanks Jerry.
I'm going to give this method a try next time I decide to eat carp. If you have smaller carp like 2 lb or less when you score the meat it will chop the bones up real good and you won't even notice them. You get carp any bigger and it's very difficult to chop them up. When they're small the bones are really thin and they will fry up, just like suckers
I had 2 take downs this morning and both popped off haven’t had that happen ever it was a crazy morning and I changed everything mid fish lol
Lost fish happen, just a part of the game we play. Better luck next time.
Hi ! There I like go fishing and cook them too, when catch carp I usually make fish pickles, next time I’ll try to cook like the you did
Nice video Tom, the carp you prepped for your family looked tasty good stuff
Thanks Kev!
Looks yummy

Very nice video
Thanks
Awesome video! I’ve been curious about carp fishing for a couple years now and i think I’ll be doing it in a couple weeks now. After some common misconceptions, I have a feeling I’ll be pretty happy when the time comes to eat one.
Takes me back to my days as a kid making cornflakes pineapple and corn syrup dough ball and heading for the spillway. We always thought about eating them but we only ate the catfish✌️✌️🎣
Looks yammy
I am curious about trying fishballs, I've heard its what a lot of cultures that eat boney fish like carp do. They basically scrap the meat out of all the bones (or just grind everything) and mix it with some binders and spices, usually served like dumplings in a broth soup
That sounds pretty good. I was thinking of doing a similar thing, making patties out of the ground fish and fry them.
Nice video and cooking showing the y bones was great
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks.
You seem like a cool dude and a good father! A lot of people in my area reel in a carp like that and leave it on the bank..would at least make cut bait from it for some flathead or channels
They think they're helping something, but all they're doing is littering.
Dude your killing me! I can't by a .carp here . Lakes are pea green and the bite is off. Pack bait exploding is just like useing a spod. When I spod corn I don't use pack bait. I just cast my hook bait at the floating spod. Good job on the catch and cook! Looked good.
I love it bro...
Wonderful video. You are an excellent teacher-very calm. Curious how did you come upon using sweet feed? It seems a little goes a long way to help the packbait to breakdown in under 5 minutes.
I've experimented with many baits.
I think the best way to cook carp to avoid the smell is to make a strong curry.
8:41 how did u do that! I need to see the video if there is 1. Incase my cheap hand bag cooler from Walmart gets destroyed by a catfish or gets lost i need to learn how to do that...😮
Get a stringer with a loop or a ring on one end and go in the gills and out the mouth. Pull tag end through the loop.
@@chrislord4679 ahh! I see. I was afraid that because they are giants u needed something more complicated. Thanks
Nice video, Americans need to learn how good is the carp , especially people that hunting carp with bow fishing they need to learn how to catch carp , respect for queen of the fishes beautiful carp.
We just have a lot of much better fish to eat. I do agree that us americans are too picky with boney fish. It also stems from poor practice in our communitys. Most places i go. Americans reel in a carp like that and leave it on the bank to rot. Hate that. So common here.
This video actually made me thinking about cooking carp instead of cut bait
Great video! In your experience, does the oatmeal break down quickly or does it stay on the lead? I never used oatmeal before but my preference is for the packbait to break down quickly in the water which I believe is an effective attractant. IMHO, if the packbait stays on the lead, it's attracting fewer fish.
It breaks down. The sweet feed in the mix helps with that.
Chummed like for second cast
No luck for me this morning Highlandtown Lake Ohio
👋👌
If you were in Australia and you put carp back in the river, you would be fined big time ⏲️ 😉 😅
False. From the AU gov website: "It is not currently illegal to immediately return captured carp to the waters from which they were taken (defence under section 216 of the Fisheries Management Act). However, NSW DPI encourages recreational fishers to retain and utilise any captured carp rather than returning them live to the water."

@@OutsidewithTomthat must be a new regulation change. Grew up carp fishing here from 4 or 5, I'm 28 now and have always heard about the fines if you get caught.
Why?????? Why oh why oh why oh why???????
There are so many fish that are lovely eating. Carp isn’t one of them.
There are too many bones.
Bake it then
I've eaten Asian carp a few times in China, and one thing I noticed is that eating them with chopsticks allows you pull chunks of meat off the bones. Even if they end up in the morsel that you pulled, they'll clearly stick out of the chunk you're holding between your chopsticks so it's a lot easier to sort them out. If you want to try making boneless fillets, I've found this video on the topic; it's in Chinese, but it's easy enough to follow along with by watching czcams.com/video/vN-g_myItyo/video.htmlsi=gWAn5pYsqMG8hNmV
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
