Menace Monk is going to give you strategies to stop binge watching depression and anxiety. There was a time when she would binge watch certain shows that lead to a Netflix addiction. Then she overcame her binge-watching depression and got Netflix addiction help. The dangers of binge watching are still present and so not to succumb to tv binge watching, implement the strategies in this video. They will help you to escape your binge watching addiction.

A friend of mine was sad to hear that one of the shows he enjoyed watching was canceled after the third season. So he decided to write an ending for the show for fun. I think that is a cool way to close the chapter while getting creative.

Self help books are also addictive because of all the illusions they give you
My mother is behind a t.v on average of 19 hours a day now. Sleeps on recliner. Overweight. It's sad. If I confront her about it. I'm the bad guy. It's been like that along time but now worse then ever. Think the shape of her body has conformed to that of the recliner chair. So sad. Never went out for walks or anything. Just to the store then back to the chair.

When I was watching breaking bad, it was so interesting and was so hooked but on Season 2, I realized it was consuming my time, I just googled the whole storyline and I didn't need to watch all those seasons

This was very helpful. I have to think of a hobby. I enjoy reading, however, my brain feels tired after work. I’m thinking some type of physical activity would help with the transition from work to doing something productive. Thank you for sharing your tips.
wow this is such an interesting and unique take on tv addiction! I am working through more of my addictions this year, the 4 that I had really determined need to happen right now, are: Quitting caffeine, video games, tv and movies, and I am working on facing my fears this year. I thought it was really interesting when you mentioned it being an outlet for learning about how you could get away with murder. It made me realize that I was turning to tv and movies to try and teach myself how to survive another attack and not be hurt. I always was looking for shows that taught me how to deal with my own life, in a round about way. I think its time this stops. I can't keep living my life always planning for the worst, obsessed with safety. I won't live like this anymore, and you are right, I did not know that I was feeding that part of me, until now. Well, no more. Thank you for this very real and down to earth video.

You mentioned that you are working on breaking 4 addictions, which can be tough, so I highly suggest you replace those activities with something else you enjoy that can be a positive outlet for you. I also suggest you look up habit cue or habit loop.
Since you said "I can't keep living my life always planning for the worst, obsessed with safety" I would also recommend searching up grounding techniques and you can retrain your mind to see the positive things in life through positive affirmations. Maybe you can search "safety affirmations" and find recordings you like and listen to them on a consistent basis. It takes 21 days to create a habit and 90 days to make it a part of your lifestyle so I hope you can commit to that. You can listen to the recordings while you do other activities such as walking, sleeping, cleaning, etc. Your subconscious mind will pick it up while listening to them even if you do other things.

@@menacemonk4000 Thank you! I appreciate all your advice =) I did try grounding stuff for about 10 years, for some reason, it has not worked for me. I've been replacing TV and Video games with reading books though, that has helped, although I still find myself craving both of them. I've started a green drink and a morning workout instead of my morning coffee. I think that the safety thing, might be about me not wanting to let go of fear because I feel that it protects me. I was doing boxing workouts to help with that, but don't have access to a bag anymore. But I was thinking about trying to do it anyway but with weights or something. I do also plan to tackle smaller fear in my life, just to kind of get that fight or flight response to stop being so intense. Pretty scared of rollerblading but its something I love and I want to do, I'm sure I will have a lot of stuff to process as I work through just that one, so hopefully that helps me to start combating the other things that I am afraid of. It's sticking to my plan that I seem to have an issue with, but I definitely am gonna look up habit cue and habit loop, because I am not familiar with those words. Thanks again =)

@@buzzcutbiene2211 I succeeded in having a bit more balance but not completely. I mostly switched to movies, having a one movie limit and making kind of a special ritual out of it once or twice a week and then rotating my hobbies. Also sticking to inspirational or feel good movies helps with that hook that is in other stuff. Like when they do cliffhangers and stuff or its really intense and it leaves it feeling not complete even if its concluded. I havent really binge watched anything in months but to be fair now im spending too much time playing video games lol so. Take that for what you will. I have recently learned tho with addiction in general, making smaller obtainable goals and excercising your self discipline seems to be more long lasting that trying to cut stuff out and avoid it completely. It does end up in more of a tug of war process but when you do make progress it seems to me that it ends up being more long lasting and you retain the ability to stop when you want to better.
@@chasingdowntruth Thank you for your answer. I think you already do really good, a lot better than most of us I think. Yes, it`s so easy to get addicted to all theses TV-Shows today and their Cliffhangers. The problem today is not that they aren`t any good, in fact they are TOO good, that`s what makes them so addictive. I start thinking about the content during my days, that`s so silly, I want to replace it with more and more real life hobbies too. Sometimes it feels like something is missing then.
You know the problem is that I show I loved and wanted to be the fictional character of ended. Its been a few years since it ended and now I want to be the fictional character so bad as I'm currently rematching it and am addicted

I need help, I think am addicted to reading romantic novels like Wattpad, webnovel etc. I have been reading this novels since 2019 now and everytime I want to quit I will start feeling so depressed like my life depended on it.
On December 2021 I told myself that I must quit and start implementing what I read from self help book but still I still ended procrastinating everything. The worst of it is that it's makes me feel like theirs nothing that will ever make me happy than reading novel

See the issue is that self help books don't capture my attention, and if I read fiction, it'll become my new TV - it's just another way to escape reality.

I watch tv because I'm in the house with kids and nothing else to do. I so bored and lonely. I have no friends and I can't have hobbies because my kids take over whatever I'm doing. What do you say?
I found a bunch of hobbies to do to replace the amount of TV I watched. So I partake in activities such as reading, exercise, meditation, writing, cooking. You're hobbies may look different than mine. If you don't know what you enjoy doing, you'll have do do self discovery. I recently wrote a book about how to do this, if your interested in learning more it's called "Growing Young- Mind,Body and Soul Cohesion" you can get it on Amazon. The people who have read it so far have said it's very helpful, I'm hoping it can be helpful for you as well.
