लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 के पांचवें चरण के लिए 20 मई, सोमवार को वोट डाले जाएंगे. इस चरण में उत्तर प्रदेश की 14 लोकसभा सीट पर वोट डाले जाएंगे. साथ ही एक विधानसभा सीट लखनऊ पूर्व पर उपचुनाव भी हो रहा है. लखनऊ पूर्व विधानसभा सीट 9 नवंबर, 2023 को विधायक आशुतोष टंडन के निधन से खाली हुई थी. इस चरण में बीजेपी दिग्गज नेता राजनाथ सिंह और स्मृति ईरानी समेत पांच केंद्रीय मंत्री तथा कांग्रेस के दिग्गज नेता राहुल गांधी की प्रतिष्ठा दांव पर है.
यूपी के फूलपुर और प्रयागराज में अखिलेश यादव और राहुल गांधी की संयुक्त रैली में जमकर हंगामा हुआ. जानकारी के मुताबिक कार्यकर्ता बैरिकेडिंग फांदकर स्टेज के करीब पहुंच गए. इसके बाद फूलपुर में राहुल गांधी और अखिलेश स्टेज पर मौजूद नेताओं से मुलाकात करके निकल गए. इतना ही नहीं, उन्होंने जनसभा को संबोधित भी नहीं किया.
आम आदमा पार्टी (AAP) की राज्यसभा सांसद स्वाति मालीवाल के साथ मारपीट मामले पर सियासी तूफान खड़ा हुआ है. मारपीट के आरोपी दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री केजरीवाल के करीबी और पूर्व पीए बिभव कुमार की गिरफ्तारी के बाद AAP सड़क पर उतर आई और खुद अरविंद केजरीवाल बीजेपी मुख्यालय पर प्रदर्शन के लिए निकले, लेकिन दिल्ली पुलिस ने उन्हें रोक दिया. केजरीवाल का आरोप है कि बीजेपी AAP को खत्म करना चाहती है और उनके नेताओं को जेल में डालने की कोशिश में लगी हुई है. इस बीच दिल्ली पुलिस सीएम आवास पर पहुंची और सीसीटीवी डीवीआर जब्त कर निकल आई.
लोकसभा चुनाव के बीच घाटी में आतंकी हमला हुआ है. दक्षिण कश्मीर में दो हमले हुए. अनंतनाग में घूमने आये एक कपल की हत्या कर दी गई. शोपियां के हीरपोरा में रात करीब 10.30 बजे आतंकियों ने लोकल भाजपा नेता ऐजाज अहमद शेख को गोली मार दी। ऐजाज अहमद को अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां उन्होंने दम तोड़ दिया। ऐजाज अहमद पूर्व सरपंच थे।
