I visited NOLA from England a few years back and they had the full album on a jukebox in a bar. Playing pool with my friend headbanging to this in the US was awesome. New Orleans is the most chill place I've been to. I met Phil years back too, he was a great dude and down to earth. He treat me with nothing but kindness like everyone from Louisiana, it's their Southern hospitality. You can smell the weed and NOLA shining through this album because that's what it smells like. Head's down!!!

I was 9 when this was released, 17 when I heard it for the first time and this is absolutely one of my favourite albums 20 years later. There's no other like it.
Usually side projects are weaker than the main band, but Down is not worse than Pantera, they are very different and equally badass, damn I love Down. Phil is definitely one of the best metal frontmen of all times, so diverse
Down is sort of a side project for Corrosion of Conformity as well. I love corrosion but this is just that next level, imo. Down, pantera, and COC... they are all great bands, for sure.
Its basically early Crowbar! BowerPower early Crowbar's Drummer (& EHG's Guitar), Todd Strange Crowbar's Bass, Kirk Crowbar's Guitar, plus Pepper from COC. Theres a new bada$$ project Crowbar crossed w Type O called "Eye Am" check em out!

I remember going to see Crowbar many years ago, and sharing a joint with Jimmy Bower. He gave me a Down T-shirt and I honestly thought it was the coolest thing ever… Stone the Crow was and still is the best tune I think I’ve ever heard ✌️
Someone left this disc on my computer desk and it sat for years. The print on the disc seemed familiar but I didn't play it for a long time. Finally played it, an instant favorite. Thanks to the poor guy who lost his cd! You enriched my life!
I took my girlfriend to a Billie eilish concert little while back. Being a musician who has played in dozens of bands all over the spectrum ( aside from polka, I hate polka), I’m not afraid to admit it was pretty decent experience. But……,all I could think of on the way home was getting something loud playing when I got home to cleanse the pallet and lemme say Down put me right back where I needed to be.
Decades ago while attending UNT, one of the best drummers I have ever known told me polka was great to listen to, as it was basically trash-metal in half-time. To this point he sped up some recordings he had for me - he made his point. Try it for yourself - search polka drums on youtube and set the speed to 1.75-2x and hear the magic.
Man, those high pitched screams Anselmo pulls off are 🔥🔥 , great band backing him and killer energy thru the whole album !! Southern hospitality served raw !! Oh yeah !!
I've said it in multiple platforms. I was 14/ 15 when this came out. I loved how raw this was. 90s were interesting. Lots of stuff got ignored that shouldn't have been.

Same here. When this album came out I was SUPER into pantera, but I was also young and immature (5th or 6th grade) so I was salty that Phil even had a side project, and I hated this album out of spite. Now I listen to it quite often. Fantastic album.

And I didnt even realize that Pepper was on guitar. Phil was just "The Pantera Guy" to me at the time. Man i was stupid. i wish i wouldve dove straight into that pit
Weird, my copy has "Losing All" with the exact same "skip", which is super loud in the intro riff and bridge. Is it a shaker/percussion instrument? Supposed to be the sound of a lighter flicking? Recording fuck up? Guess it's not just my copy. Sick album. Down rules.
