    I bought 900 grams of 4 weight cotten blend yarn to make this lovely shirt for my bf. But 900 grams isn't even enough for half the shirt(he's 6.2 so I made big...54 inches bust size and length 56 cm). Now I'll be needing 2 kg of yarn if I want to finish the shirt. Which is not much of a good idea🤧. So after finishing half, I have to start all over again with weight 1 yarn.
    Hope noone makes the same mistake.

    Hey, firstly thanku so much for this gorgeous pattern.tha ks fr ur time n effort..i started making this and have a doubt.
    U have made total 32 rows but after making 26 rows itself my sleeve length is 19 cm but the width of sleeve and bust is not exactly what i want.
    So how can i add width to the sleeves and bust without increasing length of sleeve.
    What i understood is i can repeat the pattern for remaining 4 sides but the problem is those 4 sides are not continuous so i ll have to do 2 sides at one go and other 2 sides later.
    Sorry for such a long commet and thanks in advance

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi, I use small yarn, which means the height of 1 row is short. Other people may use bigger yarn size, so the row height would be higher. Hence I need to make 32 rows to reach 19cm, and you need only 26 rows for example.

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 2 měsíci

      If you want to increase the sleeve width only, you may need to work 2 edges separately, then move on to other 2 edges, since they are not continuous as you said. It is a disadvantage of this method.

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi, you should check whether you increased stitches at the pentagon correctly (3DC, Ch1, 3DC same space), especially near the joint that pentagon connects with the length of shirt. Another case, when you Ch3 and turn for next row at the bottom of the shirt, you made something wrong.

      Thank you so much for your reply. I decided to start on the second piece to see if I came upon the same problem. It happened again. When I saw your response, I frogged the project up to the second row. I checked and saw that I did the corners of the pentagon as in the video, 3dc, 1 ch, 3dc in the same stitch. I did this for 4 times. At the end of the row, I counted the clusters on the chain, there are 27 clusters which make my initial chain of 81. (27×3=81). So I know there are no increases there. Took a picture and hope I can send it to you. Can I find you on Instagram? Maybe an email?

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hi, if you are doing every step correctly, one think I can think about is the stretching of your yarn. Since my yarn is less stretching so my finished product doesn't stretch too much and just 3-4cm different in length compared to the foundation chain. My suggestion is that trying to make a sample of one panel with only 5-6 clusters to same your time, then check how stretching your yarn is, then decide the number of foundation chain.

    I have a question! Im following the tutorial but the shirt ended up being wayyy longer than intended due to stretching of the yarn. Is there a way of shortening the shirt witout starting over? I have both panels finished so i would love to avoid redoing everything...But I'm a little worried shortening won't be possible due to the way its crocheted from the armpit outwards instead of bottom->up. Thank you for the video❤️

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi @ @catschamomile298 I think you should redo it. This time you should make the foundation chain loosely. If you can't control your hand tension, you should use bigger hook size for foundation chain only, then change to your normal hook size. Also the foundation chain should be shorter 3-4cm than your desired length for the shirt based on your yarn stretching.

    hi first of all thank you so much for the amazing tutorial, it is so helpful i want to make this for my boyfriend’s birthday! but i noticed that you mentioned gauge a lot in the replies section, i am a beginner and have searched what gauge really is, may i know the gauge reference for this shirt pattern? thank you so so much in advance ❤

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 4 měsíci

      1. Hi, I used silk tencel thread 0.8mm and 2.2mm hook. The gauge of a 10 cm square is 9 stitches and 16 rows with my natural tension while crocheting.

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 4 měsíci

      2. As a beginner, you should make a gauge first for sure, in order not to redo your work again and again.
      After measuring the gauge, you should sketch out the shirt to make sure all the stripes look even. For example, my red stripe is 3cm while yellow one is 5cm.

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 4 měsíci

      3. Also, when comes to granny stripes pattern, when you make the foundation chain at 3:44, remember to make it loosely, in order not to make the shirt curve out (wavy) when you keep adding rows. If you can't control your tension, change to a bigger hook size. For example change to 2.5 or 2.75mm if you use 2.2 hook same as me.

    • @CrochetWithHannah
      @CrochetWithHannah  Před 4 měsíci

      4. When make foundation chains at 3:44, you may not need to chain equaling to the length you want, you can make it shorter a bit. Because some yarn may stretch 3-5cm when finished. So you should check how stretching of your yarn too, and can check it by the gauge you made at the beginning.

      Yes that's what I did for collar at the back. However, at the joint between 2 panels, I made 1DC to the DC from cluster instead of 2DC, to make it tighter since the joint looks a bit loosely. There are no rule for this, just to make sure the collar doesn't look too tight or too loose!

      Yes you can use bigger hook. In my opinion, you should try your yarn with different hook size and make a gauge swatch (with few stitches and rows, don't need to make the whole panel), to see the pattern you like.

      Hi i’m not sure which term you are using. If it’s 5ply yarn weight AU, the recommended crochet hook will be 2-3.5mm. You should look at the label, it will show the hook size as well as the gauge swatch.
