How to Practice Staccato Notes on Cello |

Happy #CelloTipThursday my dolls 💪🏻🎻! Today's post talks about ways to practice fast, staccato notes AND features a 2nd prototype for CelloDoll MERCH 😍! Let me know what you think about this design in the comments below 👇🏻!
Pick a segment from a fast passage in your repertoire and try out the following exercises:
🌟 1. The key SECRET to practicing staccato is to first start with a legato bow! This will encourage relaxation and help you to avoid tension as you speed up your tempo.
🌟 2. Play each note twice (what I call "doubles") and listen that you always remain deep in the string. Avoid coming out of the string and "scooping" your bow.
🌟 3. Gradually speed up your tempo for the doubles and shorten your bow length each time. Again, you always want to make sure you're deep and heavy in the string. In a future tip video I'll explain why staccato does NOT always mean you have to bounce your bow.

helping your transitions:
🌟 1. Hold 1 note with a continuous vibrato and many separate bow changes. Vibrate through the bow changes.
🌟 2. Vibrate between 2 neighboring notes. Use the forward & backward motion of the vibrato to propel the fingers through the note changes.
🌟 3. Use vibrato through a shift up one of your strings. Use the forward motion of the vibrato to launch your hand upward for the shift. When you're shifting down to a lower note, you can use the "back swing" of the vibrato to launch the hand backward.
